2006 S430 Trunk Opener
Recently I replaced both my battery and alternator. When done I did all the resets, (I think). The problem I am having is with my trunk opener. It is sporadic at best. I use the button on the trunk to open it and after the battery change it does such things as, opening half way, closing but not latching, the pump keeps running after closed, etc. Prior to the battery change everything was functioning OK. Is there a reset for this I did not do? I checked the pump to make sure it was not put back wrong and it looks like there is only one way to install it. Usually when it opens part way you can push it open but now it seems like it is locked in place. I have no idea what is going on with this thing. Any ideas will help. Thanks

With the car started, try opening the trunk from the button on the driver's door. Once it opens all the way, close it with the same button and hold the button down (pushing the button towards the floor of the car) for about 5-10 seconds after it closes. Now see if it will open all the way with both the button on the door and the one on the trunk.

I had a similar situation where the trunk would sometimes open all the way, sometimes stop halfway or so. Ibeforreal's suggestion worked for me. These are the steps i used...
1) Turn on ignition.
2) Using driver's door trunk button, pull back and hold on the button until the trunk is fully open.
3) Briefly release the button, then push and hold the button until the trunk lid closes completely. Keep pushing the button for an additional 10-second count after the lid closes and latches.
The trick, as i understand it, is to keep holding the button until the lid is fully open. Release the button briefly. Then to keep pushing the button during the close AND an additional 10 seconds or so. Whatever it resets, it worked for me.
Cheers,
Jeff
