HELP put in LED, now so manny Errors
Hello, today I put in LED "city lights" from Ijdmtoy.com I ordered Error free lights. Install went 100% fine, I just went out to my car to see how they looked at night and they both are 100% fine but I now have 3 error's on my dash. "check Sidel light R", "check Sidel Light L" and "check side marker light LF" Sure enough my side marker is now out? Never had a problem with it before! The parking lights are great but now all these errors I cant drive it like this! Never have had one error on my dash and now this? What do I do? It said Error free! I checked the bulb size on the website It says the replacement for 168, 194, Etc.Why would my side marker light now go out? Is the Sidel the same as the city lights?
WTF HELP. |
Thanks

Agree with Tusabes, put the OEM lights back in and the errors will go away. These cars have attitudes and sometimes they just don't play well with others.
|
I was looking at Lemun PlaZma LEDs from CARid ... but didn't want to run into the issues you have....
You probably need a resistor to make the electric circuit seem like it has the resistance of an incandescent bulb .... |
its actually quite easy to trick the computers. Put a resistor in parallel and you will trick the computer in thinking there is a high wattage bulb. But that will create heat so sometimes a right value capacitor will work as well.
|
So after 3 days of driving around with the error message on the dash board it has gone away 100%. Weird right? no errors and they are working great. Does the car have to get used to them? Or is it just one of those things?
|
I also want to thank everyone who commented and tried to help me.
|
keep us updated if they throw a error code again, im really considering the iJDMtoy SMD LED interior lights.
|
IDFWU, interior lights dont have any sensors. Its either they work it not. So you should be safe with it.

what about the license plate lights do those have a sensor? |
Yes those have sensors.
I'm running these in my lic plate.
Amazon.com: iJDMTOY 3-SMD Error Free 6418 C5W LED Bulbs For European Cars License Plate Lights, Xenon White: Automotive
And i have these for interior. http://www.ebay.com/itm/LED-Car-Bulb-31-36-39-41-42mm-Festoon-3528-5050-SMD-Dome-Map-Interior-Light-Lamp-/331322261250?var=&hash=item4d24587f02 I put LEDs in the interior lighting and left the incandescents as the reading lights. My interior lights are brighter than the sun at night, but the reading lights still produce a warm yellow glow. |
sweet! basically what I wanted to konw bc like OP im afraid of getting the error code since i wont be able to return them after I install them.
|
Dont worry Amazon is very easy to return if you don't get what you paid for. I.E Error Free. Plus you can just solder like a resistor or cap inline so trick the computer. I'm talking about the lic plate lights. But it's been 1 month and no errors yet.

really?
what about the license plate lights do those have a sensor? The tag lights do have a sensor and that Is what I am going to replace next. I will prob order form them again even though I did have this issue. |
I want to do the full interior tag lights and reverse lights, I am sure it should be a fun experience lol. Does anyone know how manny lights I will need to do the full interior?
|
I have full interior minus reading lights. You will need 6 for the most basic. 8 for dual front lights which i have. double the brightness. or 12 if you want dual rear lights. if you want reading lights to be led as well then 16 LEDs
|
which to buy?
SMD LED or regular LED |
Regular led will be cheaper but more dim. SMD is more expensive (we are talking a couple of cents here) brighter but makes heat so last shorter.

For the sake of clarity, you pressed the reset button on the dash to get rid of the error messages while driving right?
I painted my side marker lenses 744 Brilliant Silver and put some LED bulbs in I had laying around from my 850 Turbo(didnt want the stock bulbs to lift or bubble the paint over time). Have errors. I just reset em on the dash..... Also idk what it is but I love the regular interior lighting. I'm just old school. |
