Rim and Spacer question

Hello, I have a 2003 S430 4matic. I found 20inch rims that "fit" my car. I would like to buy them but when I went to confirm with the rim dealer if they fit they said that I might need spacers since it is a 4matic. Is this true? Also If I did get the spacers I don't want the rims to stick out. I just want them to be flush.
Rim specs
Size: Front - 20 x 8.5 / Rear - 20 x 10.0
Bolt Pattern: 5 x 112
Offset: Front - +43mm / Rear - +40mm

What to do..... Please help lol,
Thank you!

Those rims will fit without spacers

You need to be very careful with tire size on a 4matic car
The diameter of both front and rear tires need to be almost identical otherwise you'll have problems

That's why staggered setups are not recommended on 4matic cars
But it is possible to find staggered 20s with similar diameter just look at the tire sizes printed on the tire and go to tire rack.com acting like you are purchasing those sizes to see the diameter of both sizes

Yes they will fit and Tusabes is right about the same/close diameter otherwise your 4Matic will have problems. The below is a good site to check and compare the diameter....

All W220 use 44 to 46mm offset. The only exception is the S65, which has a smaller offset at the rear. The 4matics have the same offset front & rear, and same as the RWD cars, so I don't know why you'd need any different? Dealer just being cautious I suppose.

However, a 20x10 with 40 offset is really pushing the limits. 20x9.5x40 or 20x10x45 is OK, but 20x10x40 will limit what tires you can fit. You'll be limited to 275 width, which is really a bit small for that wheel width. 2865 is ideal.

I've done a lot of research and trials on this.

I strongly recommend 275x35 on 19x9.5x45 all round if you have good roads locally.

Yes, you definitely need the same diameter. 245/35/20 F and 275/30/20 R would work, for example.

You will wear the transmission out, and it will be very expensive to repair.

Do they have tires on them or just the rims?
What size are the tires if they are already mounted

As we stated numerous times - you simply need to make sure the tire diameters are similar front and rear

245 35 20 front and 275 30 20 rear will be ok
if they come with different size tires make sure they have same diameters front and rear

So if I got 245/35/20 F and 275/30/20 R for the tires the rims would work? Im new to changing rims on cars lol. Tires are NOT on the rims already. I would be ordering tires separately prob from Tirerack.com

Remember that the ride will be rough over broken surfaces, though. And you'll crack a rim on the first pothole you hit at speed. You'll have to baby those wheels.

Sounds good, I think I'm going to order them tonight or tommrow. I'm sure if I do end up getting them I'll be posting about how my rim is broken now. LMAO
