which updated navigation DVD will work?
 

I have an 05 S600 and the DVD is from 2005, I'd like to update it, which DVD will work? Also is there a software update on the entire navigation system? Should the radio also have RDS text song/artist info?

Your question will be better served if you call or visit(Tu-Thru)in the afternoon a dealer---then google the disc number!!

The the 2004,5&6 S class Mercedes use the same NTG-1 Comand/Navigation system. The final update disc for this system was just issued. It is V-15, 2015/2016. I have it in my 2006 S65 and it works great, no issues. The way to find it is to go to the navigation.com website and select 2008 E class, they have the same NTG-1 Nav system. For some reason known only to MB they have not listed the S class on the last three updates of the disc.
One caveat, some, but not all owners who went straight from the original disc to this latest one reported problems with the disc not reading and uploading. Some of the earlier disc releases had firmware updates included on them. My head unit does have the fully updated firmware but the last update of firmware for the NTG-1 system was probably 5 years ago. The dealer can do the update with the Star system if necessary.
