Shifting issue

I need help. I can't find a definite answer. 2000 S500. When I start the car, the current gear (PRND) does not show in the dash. Where the current gear should be is blank. Only the clock is there. When I put it in D, naturally, it wont go back into park unless I turn the car off. Seems as if theres a disconnect between the shifer and the computer. In addition, when shes in gear and being driven, shes stuck in what I believe is either 1st or 2nd gear. What could be the problem? I've read the connector on the valve body or the gear shifter itself. Where should I start? I haven't ripped anything apaet yet as I am still researching the problem. I need to fix this so I can sell this car. Thanx in advance.

if you read and search the forums, you'll most likely find your answer in "trans oil wicked up to control unit".

Good luck!

I saw that post. It wasn't helpful in this case. I'll go over it again. I was pretty pissed when I read it the first time.

Here's the video on how to replace the electrical connector that allows the fluid to damage other parts causing shift issues

Yep. Saw that during research. Checked it yesterday. No fluid in the area. Thanx tho.
