W220 Jump start failure blown fuse
hello, the battery on my 2001 S500 went dead and the trunk mechanical lock doesn't work so I decided to charge through the cable under the passenger seat. the red cable clamp accidentally touched the metal part and now I ended up with a dead car. So, which fuse is blown and what should I do? Can't even tow a car...it is in the underground parking parked in a tight spot.

Out Of Control!!
Somehow or another you will have to get the car towed to a knowledgeable shop who can drill out the trunk lock and get access to the battery bla bla -----charge the battery and scan the car!!

"...the trunk mechanical lock doesn't work..."
Let's attack this side of the problem. The mechanical lock can be difficult to operate. It actually has two functions - turned one way, it opens the trunk, turned the other way it disables the pneumatic opening system. To open the trunk, you have to push up and turn the proper direction. It can help if you or a helper pushes down on the trunk lid at the same time. Perhaps making a more-determined effort to open the trunk might be the first attack.
If that fails, you can open the trunk from the outside on some early cars by removing the plastic panel holding the license plate. Start by checking the encyclopedia at the top of the page ("...START HERE") - there is a detailed description somewhere on line, either here or on BenzWorld or on YouTube.
I don't know which fuse you popped. There are large fuses in the area where you were working, and there are large fuses behind the trunk lining above and forward of the battery on my '03 S430. Good luck!

My battery went dead with keys in trunk other week. I thought I could remove back seat , drill small hole above the gas tank, and stick small diameter pole through and push the glow in the dark big green ( "HELP" I'm stuck in the trunk button) ; did not work! Don't try. I would follow the aux. battery cable further till you find a hot spot or fuse it blew
