Nav DVD on Ebay???

I am tempting to upgrade my 04 Nav, Looking at ebay listing: Mercedes Benz 2015-16 North America Navigation DVD Map T1000-22759 BQ6460327 $50.

Is this good source for my 04 S430? TIA

Read through the links here

http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w220...h-upgrade.html

Basically if your firmware isn't updated the updated nav disc may not work correctly . You need to update the firmware first then use the updated nav disc

kyosuke 08-30-2016 03:38 PM

how much does mercedes charge to update the firmware on your command unit ?

phillip04S430 08-30-2016 04:42 PM

I will ask $ from my Dealer?

They quoted me an hour labor.

phillip04S430 09-10-2016 09:16 PM

doni01: Did you buy the DVD from Ebay and just installed it?
If That's so simple... I want to try it too.

My Dealer quoted to sell the new Nav DVD for 249+tax=266 installed.
My Service Writer agreed with me that my iPhone Map is better updates... I used that $266 + more $$$ for 4 new Michelin A/S tires and ready for the deep freeze coming.

Update, it has been a year and added 20K to the mileage. So far so good, 45K mi. and counting.

I can never recommend burnt discs, seen people have too many problems with them in the past. Nav discs are low risk, but even so. It's also illegal, given the copyrights, but usually I'm in the minority caring about that.

That is the dvd for the nav. I thought you were asking on how to upgrade your command unit. I also would suggest not to use a burned copy ( legal issue ) and also have heard horror stories on dvd getting stuck and not ejecting.

i didnt need to update my firmware i just poped the nav disc in and it updated my streets. Its pretty much a novelty item at this point considering our phones are wayyyy wayyy wayy better. The whole reason i wanted to update the nav is because in the event my phone dies i can always have my house in the points of interest to navigate me back home as a back up gps

I made this disk my self im a nerd. :) i lied about buying it off ebay

http://mb.navigation.com/product/Cat...en_US/MBNA/USD

But at the end of the day our cars are old as hell and mercedes dont even offer support when you go looking for this disk. so either take a 250 dollars chance and order a disk thats not even compatible and lose 200+ or just holler at the random guy like me in his private message.

Unless you can prove me wrong thats the story im sticking with :naughty:

i knew right away i was going to see a post like this. Thats the way you feel about and its ok. But i think mercedes will be ok considering they already made 100k+ off some of our cars. Im Not offering these on ebay like the rest of the people but im sure if its illegal, which it is Mercedes obviously doesnt care because they would shut them down on ebay. So easy to spot these fake nav disc online.

Jack_88 09-15-2016 09:41 PM

Knocking back those fakes is a bit like playing whack a mole, not worth the expense for them. You guys do what you want, I get it, but I can't. Wouldn't sit right.

If not then well you cant steal or copy right infringe if there is no one to steal from and copy right infringe from

Jack_88 09-16-2016 05:38 AM

You're right, at least with a quick look, I can't find newer than 2010.

tusabes 09-16-2016 05:39 AM

The e class 2016 update disc works in the w220 and w215

Mercedes just doesn't list the disc as also working for a s class and cl class

sucks mercedes has to make you take a leap of faith just to see which cds may or may not work and you have to guess or learn from some one elses mistakes. Our cars are pretty much maybachs so w/e cd works in those they will work in ours.

I burned some dvds today and tested each one and they work. just fyi for anybody willing to take a leap of faith for 35 shipped

phillip04S430 09-17-2016 06:49 AM

Beware: Ebay NAV DVD is NOT OEM DVD!!! the listing is NEW but as a backup copy. I thought it's NEW meant original... NOT!!!

if its original itll run 100-200 used no way its gonna be 50 bucks. But did the disk work you got though ?

phillip04S430 09-17-2016 10:57 PM

Tempting... but wouldn't buy it as soon as I learned it's a backup 2015 DVD; reading somewhere in the forums, 2015 DVD = 2013 NAV anyway. Nice to have it updated, but no comparison to our smart phones nowadays. Thanks for all the inputs and thoughts.
