Question How to remove W220 driver's seat when fwd/rev motor is dead

Hi,

I took my W220 to my specialist of choice as the driver's seat had stopped moving forward & back.

They couldn't get to the motor to test it but got a diag code (£50) to say the middle motor hall sensor was not responding. (I have checked the relevant fuses)

The reason they couldn't get to the motor was because the seat was in a position so that it covered two of the fixing screws. They wanted 2 more hours (£200) to be able to get the seat out to definitively tell me the motor was broken. Then order a motor £175 + 2 or 3 hours to fit on another day.

I cut my losses at £50 and have bought a couple of used motors which I think I will have a go at fixing myself.

Can anyone point me in the direction of how to remove the RHD driver's seat or at least get to the point where I can remove the middle motor.

Or even how I can get the seat out if I can't get to the two front bolts and the motor is dead.

Before I took the car to the specialist I did find a guide for the W140 on how to get to the motors without removing the seat, but I can't find this any more.

Thanks 1,000,000
Rob

If you listen closely in a quiet place, can you tell if the motor is spinning at all?

If the motor is not spinning, lift the seat as high as it will go, the look and reach under and make absolutely certain that every one of the electrical connectors is firmly seated.
