S430 wont shift at all after ecu, ignition, shifter replacement!!! help!!
i have a 2005 s430 and the ecu fried it would'nt crank as soon as i put the key in the ignition the fan would go on high mode, so i found a similar s430 i took the key, ignition, shifter, ecu and changed it out and boom it cranks no problem. now it wont shift at all. the dash changes to drive and reverse but nothing happens in the transmission. i checked the shifter rod that is attaches to the shifter to the transmission is fine no issues there. i was told the tcm needs to be changed as well??? in order for it to drive? is that right or do i need to reset something?

No the tcm does not need to change
but Are you sure the donor car was the proper year ? The early s430 had a 5 speed transmission while the latter cars has 7 speed transmission like yours
if the parts came from a early car with the different transmission it won't work! Just finding a s430 isn't enough , the part numbers must match

Yes.
I would think that the most practical option at this point is to remove the units and sell them on eBay, and try to find a set of the correct units.
