W220 Front heater blowing cold

Right this is an odd one, my front heater was blowing cold tonight even though it was on HI, but as it’s a LWB I’ve got rear heater controls & that one is blowing lovely & hot, so can’t work out why one blows cold & the other hot ???
Any clues please.

Cheers
Ken

Checked & cleaned the duo valve & it's a lot better but not perfect so I think it needs a new one really.

Did you check/repair the pump and motor? That is essential to get full heat.

I seem to have a similar issue, I did notice that switching the "Auto" Setting on the middle vent helps. I moved it to setting below it which disables the red light.

I think this issue is one I can live with though, I still get the heat from the sides (in time) and it does take longer to be comfortable......not a big deal, I'm already dressed for the weather regardless. Maybe something I will consider fixing down the line.

If you notice, in daily driving the engine rarely gets over 1500rpm for any length of time. At these low speeds, the engine water pump doesn't move enough coolant thru the heater core to keep you warm. The small pump on the duo-valve adds enough flow to make a difference.

To be fair it's not a bad job to do, so I'll be changing mine when the weather warms up here in the UK.
I suppose it depends whereabouts you are in the USA as to how urgent it is for you, Florida or LA not so urgent, but Minnesota, Dakota etc would be a different story

It's great that you are handy! I might give this a shot one day, just not in this weather.

Between 0-10 degrees F past week or 2.
