Noise hours after car is turned off
My 2001 S500’s engine has begun making a loud humming/buzzing noise after I have removed the key from the ignition and locked the car. When I open the hood, the engine compartment is vibrating.
I’ve left it for almost two hours after use and it still was going. I disconnected the battery and it stopped.
Any idea what could be causing this? I’m concerned it could be the ABC pump. Thank you!

The ABC pump is engine driven.
If you have airmatic suspension, the ELECTRIC compressor pump can run on if the relay is bad.

You probably don’t have abc you have airmatic . Two different suspensions .
a bad airmatic relay causes the pump to run till it burns itself out . Your pump is likely seriously damaged from running so long
first try a new airmatic relay . If your pump still works you got lucky . If your pump had Burned up you’ll need both a relay and a pump

Change the relay, hopefully your pump is still good..
That's how I lost my first airmatic pump.
