Cost to have dealer replace PSE? (Vacuum unit for locks)
None of the door locks work and the trunk wont open. It just happened recently. Thinking it needs a new PSE unit.
If I take this to a Mercedes dealer, how much will it likely be to repair?
If I get the same unit out of a junkyard, will it work? I hear conflicting stories if it will swap in without reprogramming.
Thanks for the help.
I think it should pop back into life for a brief period.
You probably have a vacuum leak somewhere in the system, which causes the pump to go into protect mode, as it isn't designed to run for minutes at a time, but rather seconds

Look in the right rear passenger area for the floor lamp behind the passenger's heels. Pry it out of the carpeted wall - don't bother disconnecting it. Behind the lamp, find the yellow 20-Amp fuse. If it has blown, replace it with a good name-brand 20-Amp fuse. If not blown, reinsert it.
Removing and reinserting the fuse resets the PSE system. If a function works for a few times, then stops working, there is probably a leaking pneumatic actuator on that function. If a function - for example, locking/unlocking the driver's door - takes longer to complete than the programmed time, the PSE control system will quit doing that function to protect the system pump.

Is there an easy way to troubleshoot if it's the trunk release that's leaking?
