Of all the pics posted in this thread I think I like the Audi interior best. I can't get over the newly redesigned grill, though. It looks too "German" to me. It reminds me of Hitler's mustache.

wow, that focus with the fender flares is scarily similar...eww. i am not a fan...the more i look at the new s - the less i like it. i echo what others have said - i would go with an audi over this model.

You guys are hilarious! Lexus will never have iDrive because they have an infinitely better system already, a touch screen monitor. And the guy who states that the Japanese don't have innovative ideas, have you seen that Honda and Toyota already sell hybrid cars? Where are the German hybrids?
And the knock on Japanese cars was that they were all gimicks and gadgets and now that the Germans are trying to out gimick and gadget the Japanese, you so called German car fans are claiming the Germans invented them! I guess people wouldn't accept MB copying a Japanese company so they instead ripped of BMW! If Lexus did that, I'm sure people on this board would have been laughing and degrading Lexus, but now that MB did it, its somehow OK?!

A knob seems to be the way to go over a touch screen so that you can comfortably control the system without having to reach. Once you get used to the concept behind MMI, it's actually very easy to use. The four way i-Drive in the 5-series isn't that bad, either.
It would be a nice feature to accept input both ways for situations where you're entering a large amount of information, i.e. an address, or just to simply reduce the learning curve.

Not like Lexus made a name with there LS model by copying MB's S-Class i think MB made a comeback with this look and will make MB the car of 07..congrats MB on a great look..and a GERMAN look at that!!
"A Mercedes should look like a Mercedes" -Bruno Sacco whose first effort as chief designer was the 126. I wonder what he thinks about the new S?

I saw the car tonight on the 10 west. I'm not a big fan of the Maybach look and the 7-series interior. Maybe the car might grow on me after I see what Brabus and AMG can do with the car.

I mean looking at the impresive features this car has, a Command system of this sort was the way to go. People will eventually get used to this type of system. I mean all the car manufactures are adding it. Lets see how Lexus will copy the design and say they invented it.
That said there are still need for buttons which are accessed frequently like window controls, A/C, audio, telephone, etc.

Do you offer any proof to go with your statements?

Lexus has really good marketing. Every time I see a commercial I believe they invented it for the 30 seconds the comerrcial airs, then I remember that Mercedes did it. They are lucky Mercedes doesn't patent their stuff.
Can someone tell me why???
