Hi,

I have spoken to a lot of people about the new s-class. Some people find the shape of the car really ugly others like it, the people that find it ugly say its because of the wheel arches . I personally love the looks of the new S-Class. What do you think about it?

I just took the delivery on new S.
I wasn't sure if I was going to like it or not.
However, it is much better than what I thought.
I believe you will like it once you see it in real life.

The wheel arches don't bother me a bit! Their very pronounced which makes the car aggressive yet elegant looking. The design elements that I really don't like is the rear end and some of the interior. The back end doesn't look that great, looking straight at it and it's just boring. As for the interior I don't like the new command system, steering wheel, door pulls, and I absolutely HATE...HATE...HATE the column mounted shifter!!! Otherwise it is a beautiful design! I fear the new LS and 7-series will cause the S to suffer before too long!!! Competition will strengthen greatly because of the threat of the S-class!

At first I hated them, but now that I've seen a few good hi res pictures of them, I don't mind them one bit.

Besides, you'd be inside rollin', not outside lookin'.

I love them. I was a member of the focus group for the new CLK (the one that will replace the Accord-esque w209) and I voted to keep them on that as well :0)

The new CLK? I thought focus groups are done for new models that are somewhat imminent.
But the CLK is only 3 1/2 years old.....are you sure you don't mean the supposed "CLE"?

I won't ask details for I realize that you really can't say any, but to clear something up...If what you saw is the new CLK that makes me wonder if it will debut along side of the new W204 C-class within the next 2 years???!!! Unless what you saw is what may be the CLE, but I though that project was cancelled as one member stated before!!??? BTW, I myself love the wheel arches on the S-class and hope to see them on future models!!!

I bet when I see the car in real life, it will grow on me. Just like the 7 series. From the pics though, the wheel arches look like they took styling/design from the ford focus

I have one reserved anyways. I like everything else on the car so the focus wheel arches wont stop me from buying the s450!

I just hope they release the S63 by late 2007 or earlier with twin turbos. In the meantime my dads S600 will be replaced with a new one as soon as they come out.
