I purchased my 2013 S550 4Matic in February 2020 and drove it from Fredricksburg, VA to Seattle, WA. I was looking for low miles (58,000) and as many options as possible. I couldn't find one that had Night View and Rear Seat Package, so those are the only two options I'm missing. I upgraded from a 2009 E350 and while the E350 is still solid and a joy to drive, the difference between the two cars is palpable. They feel like two different eras of automobile even though the E350 had every option available at the time (I do miss the split folding rear seats). It's been quite a wonderful vehicle for road trips up and down the West Coast.

Is that factory tint? What kind of tint do you have? It looks good!

I had the tint done at Premier Window Tint in Reno, NV when I was staying in Lake Tahoe summer 2020. If I recall, it's a 3M ceramic tint. Depending on the sun/time of day/angle, sometimes the tint looks silver metallic which I believe is due to the factory tinted glass. Anyhow it looks pretty good when metallic, but I like it best when it looks dark/black which is most of the time up here in Seattle since the sun is rarely out.

Yesterday I saw a S600 W221 and was reminded how much panache these vehicles have. Pure style.

I completely agree. If I could have chassis style amnesia and I was told to pick the most beautiful body style Mercedes ever created, it would be the face-lifted W221, especially over the W223.
The W222 is a very close 2nd, then the W126E and W126 S.

I like the W222 but only for its interior to be honest, the outside it just doesnt strike me as a S CLASS...from far away you cant even tell which model it is
I always loved the W221 when it was first released and your right the facelift model looks even better (more fresh).
Im still in my 07 W221 S350... i wish one day i can find teh chance to update it to the facelift version of the W221, AMG model would be sweet but id settle with anything as long as this time i switch into a L model.

German Enthusiast posting pics
Enthusiast from southern Germany here. Had a long journey finding a stock S500 (550 in the US) with clean title and legit MB history. Found this 2012 last year - Palladium Silver, M278, 50k miles and just had her 10th birthday.
To her anniversary she got a fresh set of wheels, and new headlights. The old parts have been refurbished to original spec and stocked for future use. Last job we just did was to rebuild the entire brake system and powder coat the calipers after intensive research what the stock color of those had been when they were building them a decade ago. Turned out to be RAL 9006 and results compare nicely to both press shots from Mercedes as well as cars that still have nice looking calipers (we have long winters with lots of salt, that's why that needed to be taken care of from the ground up). Kind of an intense restauration, but will now withstand the conditions we face here.
Am addicted to clean stock looks and hope you guys enjoy the pics. It has been a dream car every since and i will never forget my first drive in one, back in 2006. For me this has been and still is Mercedes' pinnacle of both design, tech and quality but full respect to anyone who is more into current models.

Hey All,
I wanted to introduce my 2012 S550 that I have purchased recently. This has been a dream car for me ever since I saw one as a little boy when they first came out. Wow! What a car, I am speechless! I have had a W218 CLS550 and a W212 E350 and this is miles ahead in quality and build. I will be using it as a daily and putting on about 20,000 miles per year. I also have a 2016 BMW M5 that's pretty heavily modded and my weekend toy so this S Class is the perfect contrast. I will try to be active around here and looking forward to chatting with some of you. Thanks

Truly! I wish everyone could use it as i did yesterday, German Autobahn. 70 mile drive before sunrise and again after sunset - without any speed limit. It just hauls! But don't ask me about the bill at the pump. Unbelievable, a true luxury just because of the energy crisis.

I drive it only a couple of times per month so the experience always stays fresh and exciting. A lot of homeoffice here and two "normal VW cars" for daily rides.
Another point to add, 160mph is very challenging when you share a public road with others. Due to the energy crisis, almost noone is flooring it anymore. Until 2021, you sometimes had nice meet ups with other riders that wanted to see their family faster, too... I take it as a privilege to enjoy now as long as it is feasible, as we truly don't know what the (very cold) winter in germany will bring to budgets, households and "government ideas".

Here’s mine
Started out life as an 07 in Iridum Silver when I bought it brand new. Now it’s satin black wrapped with a combo of face lift and AMG body parts and 22’s
