S550 With Sports Package !

i think i asked this before ( sorry if i did  ). Anyway so I'm thinking that my S550 doesnt look so good these days compared to everyone else's S550 with sports package. Im thinking of adding it, is it possible for me to do it now after buying it for over 1 year. Or is the new S63 coming out within the next 6 months, than I'll just wait for it to come out. But if not ill just get the sports package now if possible and trade it in later when s63 comes in , Please help !! THANKS =)

S63's are already on car lots. I'm not so sure I understand your post but why would you spend the time and money on your S550 putting on the sports package to then just turn around and buy an S63 just a few months later?? You'd be taking a double hit on that tactic.

In other words, i want the S63 No matter what, the thing is if it isnt coming out within the next 6 months, and i have to deal with the s550 for over 6 months, i would just add sports package so i can drive it with sports package for the next 6 months. If s63 comes out within the next 6 months i would just deal with the s550 without a sports package. Hopefully thats better =)

The S63 is out now. Its in almost every dealer showroom across the country. Go buy it and post some pics already

If I were you then I will just live with your current S550 and buy the new S63. There is no point to put the Sport Pkg on your current S550, you will loose a lot of money. Just my .02 cents

If you happened to get the new S63, please post some pics :y

For example, on Ebay, Dick Dyer has a couple of brand new S63s on sale. Their are other locations as well, but rest assured, you will be much better off trading for the S63 rather than modifying your S550. In addition to a lot of down time being without a car due to having parts painted and installed, the add on to your S550 will likely NOT increase the value of your car in a trade. Also, their are extra special touches with the S63 that you simply can't retro-add such as the AMG 220 mph speedometer, the AMG clock in the dash, the AMG emblem in the seats, the alcantara suede headliner and many other benefits of the S63. Also many other packages are automatically included in a 6 series usually including rear reclining seats and cooled/heated seats in the rear, pano roof, distronic cruise and of course more horsepower and torque. If I were you, I would buy an S63 and then have Renntech boost your power and transmission shift points and you will have essentially the looks of an S65 with the power of a stock S600! (not quite as much , but close)

Hope this helps in your decision.

Good Deal

An S63 is about $25K more than a similarly equipped S550 (with P2, Sport Package, ABC, Dynamic Rearview Monitor, electronic trunk closer and power side blinds -- all standard on the S63 if I understand correctly). For that $25K you get the huge S65 brakes, 20 inch wheels, almost $2K worth of rubber, suspension mods, great seats, AMG wheel with paddles, IWG clock, AMG racetimer, higher top speed and the AMG engine. The engine seems a freebie, since the rest of the stuff is easily worth $25K.

Anyone considering an S550 Sport today ought to do some serious reconsidering.

eh, not if you're not gonna drive that fast since there aren't many roads in your area that would even let you take advantage of that engine - plus the unecessary gas mileage, shorter tire life, etc. - in the face of those issues, the difference is a lot more than $25k, plus the tax (state dependant).

I'd get an S550 sport, add a lowering module, ECU tune, wheels - probably $15k well spent for a car that'll be more unique than a stock S63 or S65 (not that I don't like S63's / S65s - i love 'em!)

You forgot to mention higher insurance as well.

But it's not like the difference in insurance is a big deal when buying a $100K+ car.

S550 w/ sport package vs. S63: I am fortunate enough to get to compare these two side-by-side. One member of my family has an S550 with the sport package, and I have the S63. They are like two completely different cars. The S63 is much more of a "driver's car." I feel much more "connected" to the road, the steering is tighter, the accelleration is superior, the seats are amazing and most of the best S550 options are standard. The S550 feels "soft" in comparison (think Lexus LS), both in ride and in handling. :shakehead

In fact, the owner of the S550 with the sport package has put in an order for an S63, which will be delivered in September.

Aside from the sticky tires, the so-called "sport package" on the S550 is purely cosmetic.

The package includes ZERO enhancements to the suspension/steering/handling. Whereas in the S63, all aspects are AMG-tuned for a more sporty ride.
