Around 2004, the S class was upgraded with chrome door thresholds vs. the brushed steel look of the previous years.
Now the '07's/'08's have that same brushed strip. Can they be changed for chrome? I vaguely recall that there was once an option on door thresholds that light up! Anyone upgraded theirs? Is is worthwhile? Not that the S 600 isn't nice enough as it is though...

Actually the 2003 model is when the chrome was added. I have no idea why this was not immediately included with the 2007 model. I guess they hold back on things like this to advance sales in the mid-life cycle crisis. I know that when these become available at the dealership, this will be my next purchase.

IIRC, my prior '07 CL600 had the chromed door sill plates, as well as chromed trunk sill plate....

Is it poss that '08 S600 has the chromed door sill plates? After all, unlike '07 S600, '08 S600 also obtained the fluted seats/door leather pattern of '07-'08 CL600....

IMO, the illuminated door sill plates are too LV/"trying too hard"/rapper wannabe....though aesthetically consistent w/the rapper-wannabe exhaust tips of '08 600s....

I really don't know about the '07 CL600 having the chrome strip or not as I've never seen a 600 of any kind since I bought mine. It wouldn't surprise me a bit if it did as the CL gets the best of the best from the very get go. However, I guess I must have a little bit of rapper in me as I really like this subtle touch that the chrome and illumination adds to the car, but I do HATE the latest chrome exhaust tips!

The strips on the Designo editions are chrome. I'm sure your Stealer will be able to order them for you.
