Loud Chirping Sound

Loud Chirping Sound
During cold weather starts (below 25 F), I noticed a continuous chirping sounds every 1-2 seconds right after starting the car. It almost sounds like a tick-tock, tick-tock sounds except it sounds like chirp-chirp, chirp-chirp. It only last about five minutes if it sits in idle to warm up. If I drive off immediately it stops after a minute or two. Has anyone else experienced this? If so, is this normal or should I have the service department look at it? Thanks. 2007 S.

A few days ago I reported that I thought my idler pulley was going out again when in fact it also seems to be a cold related problem. It went down to 18 degrees this morning and all day my belts and pulleys whined at around 1000 to 2000 rpms. On warm days, or after the car runs for a while at high speeds, the belts limber up and the sounds go away. You're probably experiencing something similar. The squeaking sound may be the belts. Does the squeaking increase in tempo with higher rpms? For now, I wouldn't worry too much about it, especially if on warm days it goes away. Keep us posted and the next time you're at your dealership, have them check it out , but I wouldn't make a dedicated trip for it....at least not now. I find that many problems like this just go away on their own. Like I said, keep us posted.
I have had a slight rattle in my passenger headrest since day one, but I just ignore it because it only happens on rutted, busted up paved roads. Otherwise, my car is as quiet as can be.
