I know im young but i love this car so much. not a brand new one either just a used 07 s550 sports package 30000 miles on it or something for around 55k. I just wanted to know is it bad? is not for me? am i TO young? i would split the payments with my parents and help pay it off if i finance it? just wanted to know what people think of young kids in luxury cars such as the S550

Welcome to MBWorld.
I don't think there's anything wrong with a 19 year old having a car like an S-Class, as long as they learn to respect the car and treat it with respect. Ex: Not constant mashing the throttle, slamming on the brakes, etc. IMO, occasionally is fine, but the S-Class isn't made for driving like that (unless you have an AMG, but those still deserve respect). If it's for you or not is your decision. I'd try going for something smaller at your age (me personally), but if you like it and can afford it, by all means go for it. It's a superb car. |
Have you considered a CL550 or CLS63?
|
I think if I were 19, I'd be more in to a CL or CLS like CY said. The S550 is the ultimate sedan, but usually not the styling for 19yo. Good luck with your purchase.
|
if you like it get it. plenty of room , safe , fast.
Got my first new benz at 19 and it was awesome. rims and tints and your set. |
im getting a 07 s600 next year...im 22...so i guess not...just bought a 2 family house, it was a smarter investment....when i was 20 got into an s500(paid off now) buying a car before a house not a smart move but a fun one lol...now i got the house.

Hhhmmmmmmm, so we have "Benzino Good" starting this thread and then "mr. benzino" starting this one: https://mbworld.org/forums/new-s-cla...re-prices.html
Both can't figure out how to use punctuation in the English language and seem to have the same grammar challenges stringing together a coherent set of sentences. I can't seem to understand why people waste their and other people's time playing childish games...... on an internet board to boot -- when you're anonymous anyway. |
seems odd to ask what people think of you getting such a car at your age...who really cares? get what u want, its your car...who cares what a bunch of people on the internet think? and just read the forums before u make a new post liek this, there are pages and pages devoted to the quality of the S class and what people think of it lol
|
why dont you get a car that you dont need mommy and daddy to buy for you? are you really going to have pride in driving your dad's car around? buy the S class when you can actually afford it and dont need mommy and daddy to buy it for you, it will be that much more rewarding. if you are still living at home and not paying rent and asking your folks to buy you an S class i think you will need a lot more help than anyone on here can offer to you.

i just don't understand people that drive around in their folks cars acting like its theirs. especially if you still live at their house. how embarrassing. how do you get chicks? seems like your priorities are off, get your own place before you get a nice car not vice versa.
|
good for you! it's the safest car out there! it's not exactly a chick magnet car for 19 yr old boys but driving it gives you the edge over other cars with respect to surviving a serious car accident due to the aforementioned safety elements. that should give you (and your parents) peace of mind that you'll see your 20s!! keep in mind, chief, these things a dreadedly (is that a word?) expensive to maintain and repair once the warranty is up. on an '07 with 30,000m, you've got two years and 20,000m before reality kicks in. tick-tock. tick-tock.

You're going to get a lot of help with that attitude .

*sigh* /me watches this thread turn into a insult war

I suggest you you get at least two S's if you are already 19. I'd stay away from the used S's in your situation and buy both new. Maybe a 550 for school and a 600 for dates and cruising. Don't listen to these others who might lead you to believe that having a job or buying a house is more important than the right ride, you know the score. Also, try to stiff your parents on both cars. Ask them to take out a second mortgage if necessary but get their name on the financing, you'll have a lot more leverage that way. Welcome and great to see a young person with their head screwed on right.
Let us know how you make out if you get my drift. |

You know, it doesn't matter what message board I become a part of, it seems as if there are always people who must be unkind to each other for no good reason. It saddens me.

okay first off thanks to feedback that i got...the good or bad...w/e i want to answer everyones questions but im new to this so im just gona write it all out in one reply. So i know some of you would go with a smaller car but i had the is250 lexus leased while i was in my first year of college and my parents were leasing it 0 down 500 a month but i realized its the worst car after 24 thousand miles and its not worth the buy out price. and my parents say they will lease me another car as long as im in school they will support me however and with whatever to limit of 500 a month (just for car payments). but like my sisters i will have to buy my own car or start leasing like they do now my own car when i graduate because they will cut me off for good. so im thinking financing a used car is the better investment for me. so i thought i might as well finance a used benz over three years i have 7,000 down saved up and i can afford to pay 500 myself a month and my parents are willing to pay the same i work with my dad in business. My parents are well off im not worried about a house or anything i just rather have a car i can keep for the next ten years that i love rather than be stuck leasing or struggling on making car payments down the road when i know it will coast enough to maintain it. so while im in school if i can buy a used s550 thats fairly new it would be the better idea cause they wont help me out when i get a job and when i do get on my own i wont have to worry about a car i can get my own place with a bit more of ease.
oh yea and the cl550 and cls63 are both nice cars but i dont want the 2door or even like the cls as much as the S class its like by far mercedes best car for the price that i can get it used. thanks for that offer though. i know its not a 19 year old kids car or what not but i just know the feel of that car considering i've driven it several times i didnt care what people think i just wanted their feed back because i saw another thread here talking about what the statistics were for who drove an s550 regarding how old and much income they had. i fit know where in the stats, plus never seen anyone my age in an S. just curious if the S was an absolute no no for me. and to sleewell i dont care if people think its my dads car when its not. its gona be registered under my name. its going to be my car. and as far as getting chicks i dont know why you would even say anything im not trying to impress anybody, i already have a gf. and austinguy im not mr.benzino your just making stuff up but w/e your funny your assumption is stupid and so are you just gett of my thread(like dont even respond to this before you make yourself look like a complete idiot) mbnj i dont know if your trying to be funny? i dont get it or catch your drift for that matter as well. but thanks for the feedback i realized after reading all this i could care less about what people think. because no one tried to just say no no no the car is not for a 19 year old. people started getting on my back about being spoiled or driving my parents car. oh well the car is amazing im still going to get it next week. |
I bought my first nice benz when I was 22 or 23 (a 1982 300SD). Definitely not a car for someone that age (demographically speaking) but I absolutely LOVED it and was very happy with my purchase. People can say what they will, but if you are happy with it, that's all that matters. It's nice to see someone in your age range who is a fan :)

well this makes no sense.
So they are going to lease you a car while your still in school. From your post about your lexus, you will now be a sophomore in college. From my understanding of your extremely difficult to read statements, your parents will pay $500 a month for your car while your in school, giving you 2 more years, give or take. Assuming a nice clean 2008 S550 is going for about $57k, and you put 7k down, that puts your financed amount at $50k. So, lets look at some options. 2 year loan, 7% interest, with 50k principal=$2,238 per month. After your parents involvement, that leaves you with roughly $1,738 per month to pay yourself. Hell of a lot for a guy with an after school job. "But OliverK, I have 3 years left in school". Alright, glad to hear it, lets see how that turns out. 3 years, same other info. Payment is now $1543. Now we are getting somewhere, but I still don't believe you have the income to pay $1000 per month for a vehicle. 5 years you say? Ah, down to a reasonable $990. Now i can believe you can scrounge together 490 worth of cash a month to throw down here. That said, if you graduate in 2 years, you have 3 more years at $990 per month. If its 3 years in school, you have 2 years of $990 a month. Lest we forget that someone will have to pay insurance on this machine. For a 19 year old, I'm sure you will be looking at at least 2k per year. Either the story is missing some key elements, or your lying. |
