You can go to MBUSA and see what the "build your own" looks like.

FWIW - I had a real tough time deciding btw. capri blue and Obsidian black. In fact I couldn't decide for a few days/weeks. The show room had a sparkling capri blue S63 on the floor and all I can say is it looked immaculate! Stunning! I think it had the Designo Mocha interior too. I would suggest taking a look at a dealership and then deciding.

Again, I thought it was an excellent color - looks black at night and during the day looks darkish blue/black.

If you haven't seen Majestic Black, I recommend looking at that. It is a very, very dark, metallic blue actually. I drooled over it. There WAS an example of it on an S63 at my dealership a few weeks ago with a light grey interior and that combo was gorgeous. It must have been there 4 months and it finally was purchased.

Sounds like the now defunct Black Opal - one of my favourite colours of all time on the Mercedes-Benz palate.

With any of these metallics, really need to see a live car in sunlight and in various light settings to see the nuances of color (and how the paint color plays off choice of interior leather, wood/cf trim, wheels, etc)....pics are fairly useless and one may be deeply disappointed a few days after getting car after seeing it in surprising lights not seen on delivery day

Capri blue in bright sun is awfully purplish...not that there's anything wrong with that:)

Maj blk looks like a dark blue in sunlight; blk at nt; in some artificial lts can have some purple tones

Blk opal was an interesting color of past...IIRC, an intriguing blk/dark blue/dark green mix

I have a Capri Blue S550 and it does not look purple in the sunlight.

You're so right about this . I had a bad experience with a candy orange Honda Goldwing regarding the lighting issue. Many times a color looks spectacular under the fluourescent lights of a showroom but once it's in other various lighting conditions, you can sometimes almost puke at some of the awful color changes. The bike looked great on the showroom floor, but after I bought it and happened to look at it on a cloudy day, it looked like salmon pink! Other times it looked like burnt orange. The only time it looked good was at night under gas station lighting or in bright sunshine. Needless to say, I got rid of it within a year, bought a black cherry bike and have been satisfied with that for almost 5 years.
The moral of the story is to always get the vehicle off the showroom floor for inspection under sun and clouds.

Do you guys remember a Honda Accord paint that was out in the early '90's? It was a very metallic blue/green that varied quite a bit under various lighting. It was very pretty.

Looked at my car in the bright sun yesterday and it looked really dark blue met...Inside it is almost black. Maybe it depends on how the paint is waxed or which wax you use because mine does not look purple at all.

Capri Blue does not look purpleish in bright sun.

Here are some pictures of an S550 w/AMG Package in Capri Blue. You really have to see it in person because photos never do any color justice. There are so many factors to consider, monitor settings, camera settings, etc.

Majestic Black is also another color that I love because it's similar to Black Opal.

Wow, looks almost black!

NICE ass car BTW. Man the thought of deciding to get a W221 keeps teasing me. :D
