2003 SL55 2007 S550
TPMS battery life, 2007 S550
Looking for a reality check on preventative maintenance.
I'm going to put new wheels on my 2007 S550.
The in-service date is 8/31/2006. I'm wondering if I should swap the Siemens sensors while the wheels are off.
I have a 2003 SL55 and the Beru sensors started failing after 5 1/2 years.
I'm assuming that the Siemens sensor would have a similar battery life to the Beru. Does anyone have experience with battery life on these sensors? Some people have said that these can go 10 years, but I can't confirm that.
On a related issue I'm interested in any experiences that people have had with L.A. Wheel.
Advice appreciated.

MB recommends replacement if over 5 years old, check the date stamp on the sensor.

2003 SL55 2007 S550
Thanks.
I forgot to ask about new sensor activation. It's my understanding that you just hit reset when in the TPMS screen and the system will "learn" the new sensors. Some Siemens required a 125 MhZ activation signal but I don't think that is the model sensor on the S550. Is this correct?
