New engines in 2011 S-class?!?!?

I've pre-ordered a 2011 S550 to be built in Oct... Wasn't expecting the new engines but now am wondering if still possible? See links below...

No, the new engines are definitely not available in the US for MY2011.

On the other hand, looks like the base MSRP/invoice for an S550 went up by over $2K. Inflation at work!

Too bad. Plus the 2011 doesn't get the good discounts... Starting to look like an orphan model year

Spoke with my dealer today... US definitely not getting new engines for 2011 MY. It does appear that other parts of the world may get them however... maybe based on regulatory issues...

So my choices... lease the 2011 starting in Nov and hope (if economic status permits) to get into the S222 afterwards in 2013 or so...... or stick it out and wait for the new engines in the 2012 MY coming out next summer....

Probably will go with the first option... would appreciate any input...

I'd say enjoy what you can have right now. There's always something new just around the corner. The current engine is powerful enough and amazingly reliable.

It's really your call; I won't rely on anyone else's opinion.

Thanks... I know there is no right/wrong answer... Depends on ones desires, funds, and patience! I'm going with the 2011 in November as long as price/leasing terms are ok. Iridium silver/black S550 4Matic P2, pano, RSE, driver assist, and B&O... Can't wait! Will post pics...

New Engine for 2011

I am getting out of my 2008 S550 which lease ends in March 2011. MB offered to take the last 4 payments so out in November it is. I was told that the S63 will be getting the newer twin turbo V8. I am seriously considering stepping up from the S550 (which in MY 2011 would essentially be the same as MY 2008 anyway) to either the S63 or the S600.

Does anyone have recent experience with either model that are willing to share? Thanks in advance. By the way I understand either model is an absolute depreciation ***** so buying or leasing a 2010 makes no sense unless the dealer wants to discount the car by 35K+.
