Used S550 4matic Advice
New to this forum..
I am driving at the moment a 1999 Volvo S80 T6 and am looking around for an S550 4matic. I've read around the internet to not purchase a 2007 S550 due to numerous issues. I would be probably looking for a 2008 S550 4matic. Any major issues with that year model? Will a S550 4matic be the best choice for driving around Nebraska/Iowa? I would also be using it as a day-to-day car. I need as much advice from anyone.

I dunno why everyone has issues with the 2007 s550? I purchased a cpo 2007 s550 4matic last july and can not come up with 1 bad issue about the car. My car has the p2 sport package I drive a minimum of between 50 and 60 miles a day. It is excellent on gas averaging between 18.9 and 23.4 mpg. no hesitation when I step on the gas a beast in the snow always started in the worst conditions always pumped out bitter cold a.c. in the summer and piping hot heat in the winter. I couldn't ask for a better bang for my buck! So don't be so fast to throw a 2007 on the back burner.

ditto...
I think it depends on who owned it, how it was maintained, and warranty usually picks up any warranty issues during scheduled maintenance. If it was driven through potholes (city car)Mine hasn't had anything go wrong but a faulty fuel gauge sensor which was covered under warranty. This is my 4th Benz and I'm very, very pleased with it. My 5th is my current R350. =)

+1... my 07 is nothing but perfect aside from a few minor things. But nothing serious. I agree with bensitto, if it has been properly maintained it should be a no-brainer just like the 08s and 09s

Research the history of the vehicle, carfax it, and if you want to get into the nitty gritty, ask the current owner where it's been maintained and call them about any issues with the car. You can also see which service campaigns or recalled issues have been updated.
Mine isn't 4matic and I don't know if there is an issue with those vs. the rear wheel drive model. But this forum will definitely help you find any questions about that.
Good luck!

2007 S550 Sport
Mine is not 4matic and it has been bullet proof so far. Minor shudder which the dealer found out was due to worn out engine and trans mounts. All fixed under warranty. My father had a S500 and compared to that, this car might as well be a Lexus!
