? for those with 22"s bent rims

When I got my car back from being in service for 2 weeks I had major vibration. I brought it to an indie who specialize in large wheels and discovered all 4 had some kind of bend or warped. It's kind of late to blame anyone now but myself.

I don't drive my car very hard but do hit small bumps but I doubt any would bend my rims they look flawless still.

Anyhow, what's your experience with your 22"? I need to get new rims, Thinking about getting some Asanti's AF 160 or AF 134 since they look the closest to what I have now and I want to keep it as close as possible.

4k rims vs 2k rims does it make a difference in durability?

Strange?! I have 22''s for both my W164 ML350 and my X164 GL450. I never had that kind of problem. Even on the horrible roads in Mongolia. I have 285/35 on all 4 rims of my ML and 285/40 on my GL.

I have 245/30 and 295/25.

Why would you put 22s on a S class? Isn't it too big?

dannieboiz 11-24-2011 12:22 PM

I think it's just right.

Chinbold 11-24-2011 12:31 PM

wish i was in the US. rolling with 24''s or maybe 26''s :D

too big or small that's subjective, 22s are "ok" on w221. you just have to drive carefully since the tires are so low profile.

If you think you have problems now, buy those Asanti's and put a dent in those. Customer support sucks with them. Your better off spending the 2k or contacting the manufacturer of those you have now and getting them repaired.

i have 22s but ive never had any bending issues. i do drive carefully and try to avoid bumps and potholes etc. the only downside ive noticed is that my wheels get a lot of chips on the outer lip where it mounts to the tire.

Hey man, there's a shop up here in Sac I've been to (never had work done though) that is supposedly really good at repairing some pretty messed up wheels. I don't remember the name of the place right off the top of my head but I'll find it over the next few days and text it to ya.

i am also against the asanti idea. i have never owned them (and i never will) but i have heard way too many bad stories, some even my good friends. vossen is a rising star and they have some good wheels and very very attractive pricing

Sorry I overlooked your message. The rims came with my car when i purchased it. After much search and comparing photos I finally figured that they are Bazo B402 based on the photos online. They are el cheapo rims but I really like the looks of them.

They are cheap enough to be disposable but not on an annual basis. Not with my salary at least. :smash:

Anyhow, took a short 150 miles RT road trip over the weekend and noticed the car vibrates real bad. I've seen this b4 and I'm willing to bet anything that the tires are bubbles. Again these are el cheapo tires Nexens.

I need to determine if the rims being bent can cause the tires to have bubbles. I need to decide on whether to dump more money on the rims or the tires.

I have a set of 20" Diamo rims on my S550, just found out today that both front rims are bent. :(

just take the wheels to be balanced. You can immediately tell if the rims are bent or if its only the tires that are bad once it spins on the machine.

every set of wheels i had in my life i bent. the roads are bad. 22" or 20"

i run a 255/30 22
and a 285/30/22

every once and a while i get a road force balance and try to even it out. works for me. you can try repairing but once you bend it back out to normal it becomes softer.

but ya you will always usually bend wheels if you drive allot or roads are bad.
