Went for the paper and no wheels!

No pics because seeing the car on concrete blocks is not a pretty sight. I will stick with the original AMG sport package staggered 19’s, but for insurance purposes and making sure the dealer gets the correct setup, what are the widths of the wheels, 8.5 and 10? And what were the original tire sizes?

Every car in the driveway has wheels locks and never got them for the Benz.

Bummer. Been there, done that. Huge hassle getting the car towed to a tire center, not to mention waiting for wheels/tires (& dealing with insurance company).

Is a tilt sensor standard with *all* Benz alarm systems or just the S Class?

Man, so sorry to hear this, that really sucks!

We see it so often in the NYC area, although I'm sure Miami is no different, wheel locks are not too much of a deterrent either unfortunately.

The public safety aide said sets of wheels get taken all over the county and wheel locks just slow them down a bit. I just ordered a set from RPM anyway and will use them on the next Benz too. There is a new house going up across the street and maybe the crew or the delivery guys noticed the car and put out the word for some easy wheels....or it could be the usual crooks just cruising the neighborhoods.

I didn't know about the tilt sensor but didn't hear a thing even with the house windows open. The dogs, who bark at everyone, slept through it too.

I had just gotten a set of the Conti DW about a thousand miles ago and liked them. I guess the dealer will be putting on PS2s or some Sport Contacts from the insurance.

That totally sucks sorry to hear about that. I think most shops would work with you on the tires they put on if you know them...

I agree with you 100%. Sometimes, we will get that one customer who has a wheel lock on their car and either loses their wheel lock or doesnt even know they have one...

pretty much, with the right tools you can remove any wheel lock

Wow that's shocking and guess you live in an area not suitable for MB owners or not suitable to own an MB. or was it a prank from your friends?

The day is finally over with coming back from the dealer. I had two tow trucks because the first guy had a bad jack and the car fell off the worthless OE Benz jack twice. One of the suspension pieces is bent from dropping on the concrete blocks and there was damage to the rocker panel and the bottom of the door at the jacking point. I will be getting the Sport Contacts. I think State Farm said I have a $1000 rental car allowance, but will check and see if any AMGs are available but I doubt it.

The tow truck guys said they took in 3 other Benzes, another S550, a GL, and whatever, with no wheels today and yesterday from my neighborhood and from a few miles away. There was one guy who had his wheels taken and they came back a week later to take the new set! My SA said the same thing.

The dealer will be putting on the typical MB wheel locks but I might start parking my other two cars jammed up against the sides of the Benz until I get the 20 RPM locks.

Now for the second big drink.

Sucks about the collateral suspension damage, again, so sorry to hear about your bad luck. You might want to stay on top of the cops since this was kinda like a friggin crime spree. My car stays in my garage, which is locked, alarmed, and under 24 hr video surveillance. And I live in a posh suburb neighborhood!
Fwiw, I don't think the trunk jack is worthless. It works quite well, I use it twice a year to switch my summer/winter tires. You just have to line it up carefully and use it wisely. Dunno if the tow truck driver was thus skilled.

This is an ongoing crime spree. The local news reported wheels were taken from the local Ferrari/Maserati dealers lot, 88 wheels off of a Dodge lot and a bunch of other places. Here is the news video.

the tow truck company must and should pay you for the damage they did. If you claim it against your insurance you will bethe one who will be paying more for your premium on the subsequent renewal

Sport contac by continental tires is the worst you would ever want, the side tread will blister and chip off and warranties will give you a hell of a time.

I don't like the tires either, though I won't be as harsh of a critic.

I can't figure out why they're OEM equipment. Like everything else, it probably comes down to cost...

But, when you're trying to by a replacement set, the Sport Contact (2 or whatever) is a huge fortune more than other, way better tires.

Continental tires are a big thing in the past but not anymore. Yes the contach sports 2 is very very expensive, go for other brands if i were you. Dunlop. Toyo, Falken, Goodyear, bridgestone, etc, they cost almost half the price and built with much better quality than the continentals.

on OE from the plant, they won the bid for supplying and the tires they use for qualifying were the better ones, but on actual deliveries they provided expired tires on most MB units (but not all).

Just picked up the car today. Invoice was just over $13k.

My SA said no Benz has a tilt sensor.

Door repair even took care of a couple of dings that really bothered me.

Waiting for the RPM wheel locks and will put on a Viper proximity alarm Monday.

A Mercedes obviously!
Ouch. Locking wheels nuts are standard on basically any vehicle with alloy wheels in the UK so am surprised more cars don't have them here in the US.

I'm not aware of any vehicles in the US that have this as a "standard" feature. Usually, dealers will try to sell them to you at closing time and make a few extra dollars for themselves. In my opinion, they are a blessing and a curse. Blessing for the obvious reason, but a curse if you lose the "key" and also a curse because I've heard that crooks have been sourcing black-market keys anyway. This is not confirmed, just overheard.

I live and drive in an area where wheel theft is not a major concern, and thus, don't have wheel locks on any of my cars. Plus, my cars are kept in a private, locked, alarmed, garage attached to my single-family home, and the garage has a video surveillance zone watching all of my cars. Haven't been burned yet, fingers crossed. For folks who don't have such access, well, I don't know how I'd sleep at night...

The best or nothing
Sorry..
I bought additional set of locking nuts (short vs. long bolts) when switched from 19" to 17" and locked them as well even though I think nobody would want basic 17", I feel better and don't wanna keep the car more inviting.
