My Car Was Keyed!! Buying S63 Facelift
Stepped out my front door to have a cigarette & take my dog for a morning walk when i realized my s550 was keyed!!! Just got the car no more than 3 months ago, but perhaps the most unsettling fact is that it was keyed in my driveway. I never really worried about security because i live in a nice neighborhood and it is usually very quiet here, not to mention i have a trained german shepherd. lol I Decided I'm going to costco & setting up some home surveillance camera's this week
Im trying to look at this as an opportunity to start fresh and not to think about the fact my car was vandalized. It certainly needs a full paint job so if I'm doing that much work why not update already.
I purchased a full facelift bodykit from Gary@Suvneer & facelift grille.
Here are a few other upgrades I'm doing while the car is at the body shop
Nav Update v.11 (Ebay) $100
SprintBooster (Ebay) $75
2/ 8000k HID (Ebay) $39
Bluetooth Puck (Ebay) $100
I haven't bought exhaust tips yet bc i can't decide, should i do 63 style or 65?
I see a lot around $300. Anybody selling some?
Would exhaust sound bad if i welded on the tips along with cutting out my mufflers? I dont want it sounding crappy, Please help me with my build
....I would really appreciate input from people who have performed the facelift already to see what approach they took for the exhaust. Thanks

OMG, jealous bastrds. Same happend on my w220 last week. Now its in paint.
I advice u buy 65 exhaust system completely if u can , it really sounds great. Very loud. imo 65 tips looks better. 63 style almost same in E-class amgs too.

I'm with you guys, i like the s65 tips. I found a few on ebay where did everybody else get theirs?
What do you guys think Straight-piping the secondary cats and have an X-pipe installed in place of the resonator. keeping the mufflers and weld new tips on
Heres a clip of cls550 running that exhaust setup, s550 should sound similar right?

I'm a certified ppg painter and owner of a body shop. No offense...but black is the easiest color to match....only problem is it shows the most if the plastic/bodywork has waves/ripples black is very unforgiving...but color matching wise it's the easiest color to match...darker colors normally is...lighter/metallic colors tend to be harder...silver/pearl colors are the hardest to match. Candy colors is just a ***** to match.

If done properly I don't see why they should have a problem blending it. Original paint if can be kept unpainted is always the best way to go...unless there's NO choice but to blend...being that it's black and from the location of your scratches...it's completely blendable without having to repaint the entire car. imo.

I just did a 2010 sl 550 pearl white...which is as hard as you can get blending wise (customer had to return the vehicle...lease ended) dealer had no problem with it after i was finished.

I'd need to have a look at it in person before giving any quotes...some requires more work/blending than others.

yes i can't stand droning. I don't like when it sounds raspy at the end
This is what i didn't want to do. I want to retain the class this car has with giving it mean v8 sound

MBWorld Fanatic!
Standing still sound is different from driving. I made that mistake once and went with eisenmann street mufler for my clk500. Sounded great in park. Ended up heaving headaches every time I drove the car, too much drone under load between 2 and 4k rpm.
