Next iPod adapter tried...a USAspec PA15-HON2 in a 2005 Honda Pilot...this failed. The ML-D100 kept re-setting.

Then, I tried the ML-D100 with a Dice iPod adapter in a ?2002? Lexus GX - this worked. I did have to reset my Atrix2 to get to the music library working again, for some reason (but I don't associate this with the ML-D100).

Another one bites the dust.

iMusicBox - initially wouldn't even power up but I had an adapter to allow older accessories to charge newer iPods and when it went through that it powered up and paired successfully.

But ... no audio again. There must be something funky about where the AUX lines on the MB iPod connector go - I've seen this behavior a couple of times - successful pairing but no audio.

Sigh.

Coolstream option?

This post comes from the coolstream website (http://www.coolstream.co/index.php/coolstream-bluetooth-receiver-for-idock-detail.html)

There's a Dongle in My Glove Box

So I recently bought a new car, well, not a new car, but a new to me car. It is my first Mercedes-Benz and it is awesome. It came with lots of bells and whistles. It is the first time that I’ve ever had to read a manual because there were so many accessories.
One thing I was not expecting was when I opened up the glove box and found a short little wire for an ipod or an iphone. Apple Products really are everywhere. So I plugged in my iphone and even though it wouldn’t charge it…strange because it looked like a charging cable, it would let me play my music from my phone through my car stereo. At first I thought this is so amazing, until as I was grooving along to my tunes, not the radio, my tunes, my itunes to be exact, and I got a call. OK, now what? The phone is in the glove box attached to a cable. Hardly the convenience I had envisioned.
Then I got a Coolstream. Now this is really awesome. I put the Coolstream on the cable in my glove box, turn on the Bluetooth function on my phone, pressed the button on the Coolstream for 3 seconds and pair my phone to the Coolstream. Done. Now I have my phone handy for changing the music which is playing beautifully through my car stereo, and when I get a call the music stops and I can take the call. As soon as I hang up the music comes back on right where it left off.
Oh, and that charging issue, is no longer an issue. Since I have my CoolStream in the glove box, I can use the lighter option for charging my phone on the console or the USB port in the car with a regular iphone charger. Either way having my phone next to me instead of in the glove box makes the CoolStream really COOL.

The Musiclink ML-D100 worked!

I was able to get back to my friend's 2008 S550 last night, and I can confirm that the Musiclink ML-D100 works with the M-B iPod adapter that was installed in there. It re-connects automatically when the car is restarted, too.

Once paired to the Musiclink, you select AUX from the headunit and then start playback on the iPhone or other Bluetooth music player. It sounded great, too.

One unexpected bonus - the track forward and back controls on the steering wheel work on my iPhone when connected through the ML-D100.

THANK YOU SO MUCH for the information, all of us with older models of S550, with only that wire in the glove box can now get things going the way we want....
It seems there is another one that works too as per the experience of another member.. Finally we have a couple of choices. .

You're all welcome! I'm glad to help! I ordered another one to have for my speaker docks around the house, so I can still use them once all the 30pin iPods die.

Can somebody confirm if Radio Stations are supported through this device? Like Pandora or Tune-in.

yes you can stream music from Pandora. I haven't tried streaming Tune-in but I'm sure it will work too.

Pandora does have a menu setting for car audio via Bluetooth. all other applications i think will be handled by the OS that will push audio via Bluetooth.

im looking to get one as well, so will let you know when it come in.

Did anyone try ML-D100 in 2010 s550? Also doesn't it interfere with integrated BT phone connection? To my understanding a phone can only maintain one BT connection at a time.

I may not be reading this issue correctly but this works to link with iPhone/pad/pod to the aux input for audio playback (not phone). I'm using one. Hope this helps

Phone and music are handled by two completely different bluetooth profiles - Handsfree (phone call audio) and A2DP (music etc). Most phones should handle both separately so you should be fine from that perspective - car handsfree system takes the phone calls and ML-D100 handles other audio (such as Pandora). They will pair and appear as 2 separate devices in your list of BT connections.

On my (2009) S550 the only issues I have run in to with this solution:-

1) ALL sound effects are redirected to the D100 so if you have text notifications or Siri navigation they won't come through the phone and you'll hear nothing if you're not listening to AUX
2) The D100 sound quality is OK but lacking in bass (IMO). Worth experimenting with EQ settings on your phone to try to compensate.

Otherwise it's a great solution to adding BT streaming audio to your Mercedes for not much money.

Should not matter. Bluetooth connections are all the same.
I just received this thing, took almost a month. The car is at the dealer at the moment, will try it as soon as car is back.

Looks like a solution but the ML-D100 is specifically solving the problem of folks with the iPod kit plus the ML-D100 never requires charging (or re-pairing) - just connect it to the existing iPod cable and forget it.
