2007 - s550 Questions
Hi all,
I'm new to MBWorld and I'm about to purchase an 07 s550, but before I do I have a few questions for the seasoned vets here.
I've seen some answers in the forums but they are older (like 09) and I'm not sure if the answers are still valid.
1. iPod integration with COMAND support: Is this still possible today? MB is saying they no longer have the OEM parts and the aftermarket shop around me stopped using the aftermarket one around $700. They stated that it wasn't worth the price tag and then they suggested a bluetooth solution. I would love to get as close to the 2010 model version where I can command everything from the COMAND console. Ideally I would love to continue using my iPod with the serial connection primarily. Also is there any issues with iPod/iPhones with Lightening connections?
2. Sports/AMG kit addition: I'm looking to find the OEM or close to OEM quality kits to put on my car. Do you guys have any sites that sell OEM or close to OEM?(Preferably not fiberglass)
Any help will be greatly appreciated!!!

I have original IPod integration kit from 2008 Mercedes, you just unplug connector from navigation and plug it in to integration kit, there is a wire coming out from integration kit that plugs to navigation unit

AUX audio was standard on MY 2008 cars while it was not on MY 2007 cars. COMAND would need version coding to activate the audio interface but that would be straightforward with Star.

Hey alexandercat76, any update on the OEM connector? I have not had much luck with finding a aftermarket solution that gives this type of functionality that most places in the area recommends. The closest thing I've found was the dimension part (http://www.icarkits.com/cars/MERCEDES_SClass_2007/V6GW52MO2)
, the shop here does not recommend it due to issues that you get with it and pricing.
If anyone in the forums, have or know of the best OEM solution please let me know.

Male from the car connects to interface female and male from the interface connects to the car head unit there is also audio video input cable that goes inside glove box or armrest, I used it to watch music videos from iPod

Because I can see 'enable Aux-in' in Star but there is no option to 'enable Ipod or Iphone' as far as I can see in Star.

I've been looking into the COMAND update (firmware update/flash update) and it's looks like I may be out of luck on this one. I'm in the Charlotte NC area and none of the dealerships no nothing about it. Even if I explain it they say it's not available for my car. They all check the computer and come back with this response.
I've seen in some threads/forums that it has to be done via mechanic at MB using a STAR tool and others said it was done using a DVD and the dealer even gave it to them. I believe it's the former but just to beat a dead horse...
Is there anyway to update COMAND and get features like video in park, birds eye view, etc... with a disc?
If not are there any dealer relatively close to NC i.e. VA, Ten, GA, etc... that forum members have had the update done and can give me a reference?
I was looking into the Mid City Engineering VIM part with backup camera... Will this work if I don't have the video update?
Does anyone have experience using Mid City's BT option to stream music in their car?

Drive-kit-plus only works for 2010 and above.
Found out from MidCity that the BT option I was referencing does not work of the 07 s-class, so dead end there.
I'm trying to get close to a smart adapter solution in this thread mentioned by Mike5215.
