Living without a S class for a week. Don't do it!
S went in for for service last Monday. 7 full days of depression, sleepless nights, and anxiousness. Kidding, but it was a sad. I had a 2015 ML as a loaner and never missed a car so much while it was gone. That's all. Nothing take the place of this car.
"S class or no class" is the quote to live by. |

Holy cow! What are they doing to it for seven days?

7 days, huh, that's nuthin' try a month - My service dept is still waiting for an airbag/seat belt parts set and according to MB it has been shipped and is within the 7 - 10 day shipping regimen:eek: Hopefully it will be done this week. I originally went to the shop for other warranty repairs and then when it was ready to go, after a week, they came up with the Passive Restraint Fault and so it has sat.:nix: Since I don't need to drive the car everyday, I am fine with letting it sit at the dealership. Yes I will check the mileage to see if it jumped up a bit.

Yeah I was stuck in a 2014 E Class for over 2 weeks and almost lost my mind.
I don't want to bring it in again unless necessary. |

I don't want to bring it in again unless necessary. The leather seat bottom replacement (required when driver side heated seat bottom stops working) is what I'm upset about. It shouldn't look worse than the original. |

Yea, I had the windshield washer leak since last January and waited to being it in as more things occur and as I found things overtime that may not be right. The windshield washer fluid only leaks below freezing, so it wasn't a big deal until now.

So you, with a very low mileage well maintained CPO 2010, Nuru with a low mileage well maintained CPO 2012, and my nice CPO 2010 have all been in the shop in the past couple of months for relatively minor repairs that will probably total $10,000 over the three cars. After CPO steps in, $0 out of pocket, and no haggling with a 3rd party warranty company, no waiting for a field inspection, and no deductible. Guys probably get sick of me constantly telling new members to get a CPO car if at all possible, but I've never lost money on a CPO warranty. The only time I've ever been nicked by an S Class happened 3k miles out of warranty. |
My washer fluid tank leaks also but didn't know why it only does it now and then....just as you said it only does it when real cold.... below freezing.

Ha try 5 WEEKS for fixing a flat and replacing motor and tranny mounts as well as that annoying sound from inside the dash which required completely removing the dashboard
And putting it back piece by piece. Sounds fun! |
What sound would that be? I have a whine that sounds like its in the right footwell while driving then shuts off with a click sound at stop...

2007 s550
My sound was in the driver side dash and sounded like a rattle creaking noise which was just unbearable. Glad it's fixed but now the heater doesn't work!

Did they take another crack at restretching that bottom skin? It looked like ass the first time. I'd be pissed too.

Oh and you get "nicked" every time you trade a car every 3-5 years, imho. It's still my opinion that this, and any forum, is not a true reflection of issues because what percentage of owners that aren't experiencing problems seek out and post that info to a forum?
But, yeah, rationalizing that there's a secret group of imaginary owners who own trouble free S Classes makes a lot more sense. Definitely go with that. :rolf: |

Not me. Must have the wrong guy. Any repairs or just regular maintenance on your 08?
On another note, going for a second test drive tomorrow in a Tesla S (P85 not the P+). Tesla just put a showroom in at Lenox Mall and I'm pretty sure we are going to get one. Well, my wife is getting one. You had asked earlier to report and will do so now. It does not ride as well as the S550 but the acceleration is brutal :D. It handles extremely well but found the interior less than desirable. I'm still having a hard time with the price but I am also looking at the gas savings and tax credits to offset. Delivery won't be until March 2015 if we go through with this. |

Personally, I would think the opinion of a working Mercedes Benz service writer with a decade on the job would be a pretty good indication, as would the high incidence of repair issues reported on the forums.

Definitely go with that. :rolf: I think it's possible to own an S-class that's been completely trouble-free....just like it's possible to own a Lexus with a long list of problems. Following the maintenance schedule to a tee and not abusing the car could certainly lead to a trouble-free S-class. Anything is possible. Even some members of the Illuminati might drive trouble-free S-classes. ;) |
You can see on other forums where they discuss long-term ownership of the S-Class particularly the gas models. Don't hear a lot about the long-term oil-burners in the way of complaints?
