DAS Multiplexer problem
 

Hello all. I have a DAS C3 mux and it gave me a fault like this:

Intitialization of diagnosos multiplexer failed. Possible causes: The link between the diagnosis multiplexer and the diagnostic socket is interrupted. The link between the diagnosis multiplexer and the diagnostic unit is interrupted. The voltage supply at the diagnostic socket (circuit 30 and (or) circuit 31) is faulty.

I contacted the vendor and they asked to send it to them for repair. After got the unit back, it still has same problem and vendor blamed on something else but the unit. Does anyone have procedures or tips to test this unit? I would appreciate it.

Have you checked the

-OBD connector and wires to the mux are they all in order?
-connection between the laptop and the mux .

Hardware-wise are all the pins ok and/or wires undamaged ?

Software-wise have you done any OS updates by accident (..never good to do any installation modifications in a working system if you do not exactly know what is happening).

Is the comm-port still working correctly : check settings and connection etc.
Are you using the pc exclusively for Star/Xentry or not. I would recommend to do so anyway ,to avoid anything being installed that $~€&@ the settings..

Other then that I am a complete noob that just got a system to be able to do basic diagnose and simple repairs myself..

For the hard ware I sent to vendor and they checked everything and in good shape.
For software, I never do any update. I used this for Star but recently I installed Vediamo the I uninstalled it. I did loopback test on my serial port and the result came back OK.
But one thing I notice is on WIS, it shows the diagnostic socket has 5 wires and mine only has 4 wires, two for CAN and the other 2 from the same ground according to WIS so there is no power to the socket?:

Irrespectively of what your tool supplier says, you could have performed the HW tests marthyh mentioned.

Did you run the caesar self-test?

Does the green led light up when the mux is connected to the car? Perhaps you made a mistake with the missing power wire.

Did the tool work with this same car previously? Have you tried any other similar car (CAN based diagnosis)?

Checked the com port settings? Vediamo by default needs COM1 while it should be COM2 for DAS diagnosis.

Thanks all. I did not know there is a green LED on the Mux because it is covered with a piece of black tape from the vendor. My socket has a loose wire and all is up working again. Thanks Diesel Benz for pointing out green LED.
