TPMS Sensors
So, I washed my car this morning and noticed some tiny bubbles coming out of the valve stems of the tpms. The seal must have been warped. I called the dealer and they wanted 204.00 each. I started to just go ahead and buy them but I came home and looked online at advance auto parts and they had oe replacements...I figured for 51.99 each why not try them. I paid online and picked them up in the store. I got 40.00 off of a purchase of 100.00 or more with an online coupon and the total came to 67.82 including tax.
I had them installed and drove the car 1/2 mile and boom, worked like magic. I am going to go buy 2 more just to have as replacement on hand since they are so cheap. No, they are not OEM but since they are just tpms and not something major, I don't see the harm in these as replacements especially considering the price for 2 after the coupon. So I will have 4 of them for just about half the price of buying 1 from the dealer. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mbw...c14fa2f0c1.jpg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mbw...22961e3f02.jpg |
I just ordered my wheel and tire package. Same 20" wheels you have....8.5 fronts and 10" rears with Hankook Ventus2 Noble1 tires. Entire package shipped with wheels, tires, OEM sensors, lug bolts, and Hunter road balancing came out to a little over $1900. The MB OEM sensors were $65 each....so it appears that the dealers mark up the crap out of them. From what I understand, dealer cost is around $60 per sensor.

Nice! I paid around the same after getting them mounted and balanced locally and then buying the new sensors. Yeah, I am sure they mark them up. I couldnt believe it was over 200.00 for 1.
They really make the car look so much different! I almost got the silver but I think these flow a little nicer on the car as they match the chrome accents on the car. I am going to go out and wax it and then I will take some pics. |
What are the OEM part numbers for the sensors?

You sure you can't just get new tpms valve stems?
(Advanced Auto for $3.99 ea) I had one of mine leak after changing a wheel and a new valve stem kit cured my leak. |
Does someone need to program the sensors or does the car automatically pick them up?

It even states on the box "Install right out of the box and no sensor programming required". I thought it was too good to be true but they worked perfectly. |

I think I still have them in my trunk. When I go outside I will get it. |

If it says no sensor detected that may be a sensor issue or something else. With the sensors above, it gives me the normal message " Tire pressure not available until after a few minutes of driving the car"...drive a 1/2 mile and all read. |
I picked up original mercedes sensors off someone.... I guess they are dead.

You might want to check and make sure you have the correct sensors. The 2010+ models are 433 Mhz. 2007-09 take the 315 Mhz sensors. |
