One of my best friends had a black M6 conv and I loved that car. We took it to the track shortly after he bought it and he pulled a 12.9 quarter mile all stock. This was a 2006 M6, with optional full carbon interior. It was gorgeous. I really haven't been in one since then, but drove it multiple times and loved it.

2011 Mercedes S63 AMG
If you really wanted to sell the S and get away from Benz, I'd stay away from BMW. For me personally the interior is too bland.. its like they just face lift the 80's version. It never improves and that's what I see while driving the car.
If you don't mind getting a coupe or grand coupe, why not look at the Maserati Quattroporte, Maserati Grandturismo, hold off for the new Acura NSX as you have the Camry now, Bently Continental GT (even though im not really a fan of them), Mercedes CLS63 AMG, SL63/65 AMG, or the Nissan GTR etc...

Generally speaking BMW interiors I find lacking. However the 6 is unique, even to the 5 series it shares the platform with. I spec'd out the full Merino leather option but even the standard interior gets that double stitched leather down the dash and center console. That and the tech looks beautiful, and the exterior design is just about as perfectly proportioned a coupe as I've seen.
Drove the car, loved the car. For me it's just about colors and wheel sizes at this point.

It's a custom build due to the full leather package but here are some generics in the color I'm leaning toward...
On 20 and 19"
Options are B&O audio (3700) Merino Leather (5000) M Sport Package (4800) Piano Black trim (1080). The 20s add another 1k but I actually like the 19's. This is a 640 (TT6). It's not a baddass car, just a nicely appointed luxury coupe.

I sat in a Alpina B6 not to long ago and I have to say I was really impressed. The interior felt rich and the quality was solid. They also had a LWB 7 Series and I was very disappointed when I sat inside. Too much plastic every where and fake/cheap looking wood.
As far as the exterior, the proportions are perfect. The things I didn't like were the long 3rd brake light on the top of the rear window and the pano roof which looked cheesy.

Especially you. Remember? You never exceed the speed limit and only have the S600 for the leather interior and options. My friggin' Camry would kill a 600 if you were behind the wheel, grandma.
Not exactly the most compelling front fascia in automotive history here either:
No amount of counterfeit Chinese wheels are going to be able to toughen that up, bro.

But a cheap AMG body kit from Gary will do wonders. I doubt there is enough lipstick that you can put on that hyena 6 series to make it look respectable. Don't get me wrong here....some of BMW's new models are very nice looking cars. Unfortunately the new 6 is homely, especially the front end....kind of like the C216 CL's....although it still looks better than the very heinous E63 6 series....which was ugly from every angle and had the worst of Chris Bangle written all over it.

Don't fall for the trolls Dave. Why someone would come on to a Mercedes forum to validate a potential non Mercedes vehicle (Tesla/BMW) purchase is beyond me. I guess there isn't much else to talk about on here......

Yeah. What sort of pathetic douche would discuss the Tesla in a positive light on a Mercedes forum?
Damn trolls.
On another note, going for a second test drive tomorrow in a Tesla S (P85 not the P+). Tesla just put a showroom in at Lenox Mall and I'm pretty sure we are going to get one. Well, my wife is getting one. You had asked earlier to report and will do so now. It does not ride as well as the S550 but the acceleration is brutal . It handles extremely well but found the interior less than desirable. I'm still having a hard time with the price but I am also looking at the gas savings and tax credits to offset. Delivery won't be until March 2015 if we go through with this.
It's funny you mention "keeping the S and driving the Tesla when I feel like it" is exactly my plan And the low gas prices are definitely something to consider, I just don't think crude will stay low for the long term. But I'm really digging the $2.60 for premium at the moment!

Returning to the topic at hand (my awesome indivualized 640) I'm thinking of leaning away from my usual black/silver/gray and going Mediterranean Blue (no add color) Has a little more life to it.

Beautiful car, beautiful shape, love the color. I still like the way a BMW drives--to me, nothing compares to the BMW's driving dynamics.

I am sorry, I just got to say it, but what a fun thread this one turn out to be!
Actually, did not expect such things in a W221 forum.
As for the topic at hand, is it a 2015 or a 2016 6 series?
MY 15 have big discounts and the MY 16 is the refreshed one.

Well I just missed the boat (literally) on a 2015, the system stopped taking orders for 15's April 30th and $4k in Lease Cash went with it. The timing was too tight since I hadn't really discovered the car until the 28th, and there was a lot of build configurations to sort through.
So it's looking like a 16, not sure if there'll be any incentive cash when I lock the order. As for the driving dynamics, I like that it's got that BMW feel but it's not really a scalpel like the 3's. It's a nice blend of handling and comfort, a good transition car from the S.

You know, you are in that phase where one is really excited and goes thru the build your own site many times and searches for photos all over the internet for the combinations etc
That is emotion right there, so basically you are locked in, so no matter what others say to you it will not sway you off of that purchase.
Why are you choosing the 640i instead of the 650i and why not a gran coupe?

Yeah, that makes a huge difference. That makes it only 80% as douchey. But I'm awarding you the other 20% as a bonus for having such a short memory.
If you're implying I started the thread to denigrate the S Class and "bait" owners I suggest you read it again.
First line: "Very few cars impress me having driven S Class of one form or another for so long."
I started the thread to share, as objectively as possible, one S Class owners take-away having experienced a different car.
You and Dave chose to stir the pot, which is fine I guess. But in the future if you two numb-nuts decide to double team me in my own thread I suggest you hire yourselves some writers. You'll both probably look less foolish.
