Folding Rear Head Restraints
According to my owners manual, the rear head restraints are supposed to fold up when someone sits in the rear and fastens their seat belt. This is described on page 111. Does this feature work on anyone's S550?

If my knowledge is correct (family is currently in the market for one), they only go up if the head restraints are powered. This would mean that you would need the rear seat package, which gives you the power rear seats.
Otherwise, they can be pulled up and set to be fixed until the driver hits the button to lower the restraints.

I am sure you are correct. What confused me is that the manual does not mention this in the context of the rear seat package and describes it as if it is a basic feature.

The manual is confusing because I had a S550 without the rear seat package and like you, I thought the feature was standard. I couldn't understand why it wasn't working until I realized that I needed to have the rear seat package. MB doesn't do a very good job with explaining some features in their manual which can be confusing.
