Windscreen washer pump leaking (S500)
Hello,
I have an S500 (2010), the windscreen washer pump recently went kaput and I ordered a replacement online. It works perfectly.
I pulled out the reservoir, replaced the pump and the pump was working perfectly.
Now the problem is I think I remember seeing an O-ring on my old pump when I pulled it out. If it was there, I probably lost it.
The pump does work perfectly but I think it leaks water where the inlet hose connects to the pump. Is the pump supposed to have a tiny O-ring where it attached to the inlet water hose that comes from the reservoir?
Any help would be appreciated! I looked online high and low but couldn't find anything that mentioned something about the O-ring so I'm not sure if it supposed to even have one or not. Thanks!

I changed the pump on my 2007-S550 a while ago. If yours is the same, the metal tube that goes into the bottom of the plastic reservoir has a "rubber ring" that must first be seated in the plastic reservoir then have the tube from the pump inserted. The rubber ring must be have a slightly smaller inside diameter that the outside diameter of the tube thereby sealing the hole in the bottom of the plastic reservoir. If not seated properly it will leak---I had a bit of trouble getting the rubber ring back in the reservoir after pulling it out to remove the pump.
