Did you ever get a quote to replace the dash leather? Mine has the same problem. Thankful I have the designo interior but this is a huge downside. Makes the car look like crap (if anyone other than me actually notices LOL). I only have 90k miles but the original owner before me had it in the Texas sun for 40k of those.. I suspect that was part of the problem.

I work in the leather repair biz. The reason why 98% of all manufacturers DONT put leather on the dash is b/c of just what you're experiencing! ugh. One has to condition it REGULARY and fairly often to avoid that historically.

True! I'm in the process of trying to find someone that will quote this for me. Any experience on replacing the whole dash leather on Mercedes or any car for that matter? Wondering if this is a 1k or 3k+ job. For 1k I would consider it but $1000 doesn't go far these days...

Based on where you go, removing the dash and re-upholstering will be way beyond 1000.

You could also straight swap for a non-designo dash (1-400$ on ebay) and have it painted to match the color of your interior. That would probably be the cheapest option and you wouldn't have to worry about it happening again.

Thank you for this idea. I found the same dash with the same leather code in perfect shape! Now to get a quote to exchange the dashboards.. I suspect 8hrs labor...$1000? Will keep you updated.

Riv-stage, what products and processes do you recommend. I have Designo leather dash and want to keep it nice. Question goes for seats too.

Thanks for sharing.

OP thanks and keep us posted.

My favorite interior shampoo and conditioner is from Larry at Ammo NYC. It cleans really well and moisturizes really well while leaving no shine at the end.

Final word on this issue: Dash can be found on ebay for under $500. If you look long enough you can find one with your exact leather code. To remove and install, I was quoted $880 by a MB certified tech who has the STAR system. It's my understanding that you will need the STAR because the instrument cluster will have to be removed and reset.

I've removed the instrument cluster plenty of times. Nothing needs to be reset. Maybe he was referring to something else? Also, forgot to mention before, the speedo piece of the dash can easily be taken out without removing the entire dash. That piece alone should be a couple hundred bucks and is something you can easily do on your own in under an hour. Not sure if you guys are referring to the entire dash or just that piece.

We were referring to the entire dash but that is good to know.
