How should it feel?

Question for other members with the S550 4 matic with 19 inch rims

On smooth highway, I can feel a little graininess in the steering wheel. Not like a typical out of balance wheel but a finer vibration. Also the drive train seems to make a low frequency rumble. Not loud but noticeable. Maybe I am expecting too much but I assumed that it should be completely vibration free?

My comparison point is my prior car which was a Lexus LS460L AWD which was a far worse car in many respects but I don't recall the steering vibration or background rumble.

I would appreciate comments from other members

I have a 13' S550 with around 16k on it. I've also noticed a slight steering vibration - some of the time. Doesn't feel like a typical out of balance wheel.

Next service appt. I'm planning on having the steering vibration looked at along with a weird brake pedal vibration while applying the brakes, that oddly doesn't feel like a warped rotor. Just enough to be irritating:nix:

Airmatic or ABC suspension? I had a pulsation dampner go bad in my 08 s63 and that is exactly what it felt like.

Thanks for your reply.

Mine is an Airmatic, I believe the original poster would have an airmatic also due to him mentioning its a 4 matic.

The S550 is prone to different kinds of vibrations. Some of which you will just have to live with cause the exact source are almost impossible to pinpoint. I have owned lexuses in the past and can honestly say the Lexuses didn't have the kind of vibrations the s550 has. After you get rid of the big type vibrations, you will get used to the small minor ones stemming from the sensitiveness of the s550 as an ever attention grabbing whore.

FYI, will pick the s550 10 times over again if i had to before switching back to Lexus. The experience is great

Could be a bent rim.
