FINALLY DID IT! FACELIFT 99% DONE
I've been contemplating whether I should do the facelift or not on my 08 S63 for a while now. Well ladies and gentlemen... It's finally done. Well... not completely done, but almost. Still missing the mirrors, but nonetheless, here's a pic I took today, let me know what you guys think!
PS: if you have any questions about facelifting your W221, shoot me a message! I'll try to help
PPS: One of the DRLs flicker off after a couple mins... hopefully I can get that sorted out ASAP!

Isn't it like getting a new car all over again? I love doing big appearance mods about midway through the ownership cycle. Looks great BTW. What color is that interior. Looks lighter than Savanna/Cashmere.

Nah. The pre-face-lifted mirrors are much more elegant and fitting for an S600. The face-lifted mirrors look like hippie Jap car mirrors giving the peace sign. The face-lifted headlights with the IR beam are way too cost prohibitive to make it worth the while. More expensive by themselves than the full body conversion.

Thanks for the feedback guys!
As for the color, the car is Designo Platinum Black Metallic, with Designo sand interior. It's much darker than it looks in the picture because of the lighting.
And, tifosiv122, I don't have nightvision package on my car, so it made the headlight swap much simpler. I bought the OEM headlights rewired for $2500. There are aftermarket solutions all over eBay, but I'm not sure of the quality.

Your lights are flickering because you need to install resistors. I assume you have connected them to your original fog light wiring. The SAM checks for correct resistance by sending some voltage to the bulb. If it detects wrong resistance it will shut off power to the bulb.
If you insist on using the LEDs as fogs then you will need to install resistors. Install them in a safe place away from plastics as they get very hot!!! I mounted them on the headlamp frame with some washers to serve as heat sinks and spacing to reduce contact with the mounting location. For safe measure I placed some sound deadener in the inside of the bumper just incase it gets a little too hot. So far so good. Heat is isolated and dissipates well even after hours of continuous use. I used 50w 6 ohm (recommended by Gary)
Here is a video explaining resistor installation methods.
If you connect them to your parking lights/city lights, you don't need resistors because the correct resistance is present there. But you will not be able to independently operate them as fog lights.

Hey! Thanks for the in depth how to guide! The DRLs are connected to the parking/side marker lights so I wouldn't need to get a resistor. The right side works perfectly, it's just the left side DRL. I tried switching the two to make sure it wasn't the wiring. I guess I just got unlucky with one of the DRLs
Typical of cheap LED's from China. I've heard that the DRL's in these kits have lots of QC problems. Sometimes a swap of the positive and negative wires fixes the issue. If not, the seller of the kit should send you a new light bar for no charge.
