First, make sure you haven't put any disks in upside down. Next, try a slot other than #1.
If none of that works, then your car likely never received the COMAND software update that dealers started doing around 2009 or so. You may want to take it in and have them do that. It will likely fix the problem.
The cd is inserted the right way lol, i did try each and every slot but same result. I thought the software update was only for video playback and some traffic n nav option updates ? Im sure from the factory the cd n dvd worked from day 1 without any updates, im trying to avoid the dealer and 130 just for him to tell my i need a new command

There have been software updates to COMAND to solve your problem. It will also give you the birds eye view option for nav if you don't already have it. A trip to the dealer for a software update is a lot cheaper than a new COMAND unit.

Oh i see so this is a known issue ? I wonder why in my searches i was not able to find anyone else with same kind of problem? So since the cd and dvd worked im sure from day 1 when the car came off the lot what triggers this behavior for the cd/dvd player to stop reading disks anymore? I bought the car recently so for me it never worked ive just been using the pcmcia to sd card to play music so thats why i thought maybe the disk changer was bad
by the way has anyone tried to upgrade the command unit from 2007-2009 cars to one from 2010 and up ? is i even possible ? if so what is the difference between the two besides the fact that older one has pcmcia slot instead of sd card ?
Hello, how did you fix this problem with your car? I’m having same exact problems. Cd/radio and MP 3 not providing sound. Navi working but not sound. Sometimes, the audio sound will come on for 10 mins then off again and keep showing unknown format. Please, help. Thanks

That sounds more like a broken amplifier. There’s places where you can get it repaired online or buying a used one for like $800 or so.
