push to start question

I have a 2009 s550 and the car did not come with a push to start and I have to use my key. Can I just order the button itself and get it coded to my car or does it involve more work and parts to function

getting the button and coding it to your car won't work if your car didn't come with the push to start option. Are you sure your car didn't come with the feature? Sometimes a car can have the option and owner won't know they have it as an option cause the button is missing.

a simple way to find out if you have the option is to look at the door handles. There should be a rectangular sensor in the handle that you can touch to lock and unlock the car.

Ticked mine didn't come with the button either. I didn't even know about it until reading this forum. I suspect a detailer at the dealer took it and sold it on Ebay. The owners manual was gone too.

Just1time is right, look for the handle sensors. If you have them then order the button on ebay. I believe they are

Put your VIN at this site and it will decode all of the options your car came with. If you see Keyless Go, which on my car is code #889, then you can buy a Start button to put in the key slot. You have to be patient as the site can be pretty slow.
