2010 S-550 Transmission
Been driving with transmission in "C" for past two years. Recently tried "S".
Appeared to function correctly, except when car turned off transmission
immediately went to "C". Understand from operator manual, transmission should stay in mode it was in when car turned off?
Also last time I tried "S" transmission seemed to stick in 1st or 2nd gear,
stopped car, turned off, restarted in "C" and have now driven several weeks in "C" again without problem or trying "S" again.
Anyone have any similar experience or incite as to potential problem?

C (comfort) is the default mode. The car reverts to C with each start regardless of the previous setting. The difference between Sport and Comfort is that Comfort's lowest gear is 2nd, and it upshifts earlier resulting in the car staying outside of the torquey part of the engine's power band.
Sport uses 1st and holds gears between upshifts longer.

Yes, 07-09 (and my 04 and 06) held its setting. I kept the 500 in Comfort and the 430 in Sport to compensate for a bit less grunt than the 500.
I think the default on a 2010 + can be reprogrammed via DAS.

Correcting myself: When car is turned off transmission does stay in "S",
If in "S" previously. Defaults to "C" when door is opened. Next start
Transmission is in "C" but can be switched to "S" as wanted.
