2007 Bluetooth

Just looking for clarification here. I've been reading all the info I can on Bluetooth stuff and at this point I think I've gone cross eyed. I just bought an 07 S550 and I haven't seen the car so I don't know if the cradle plug is there. I did a quick vin decide to see if option code 386 or 388 was present. Neither are. Instead I have 389 (MOBILE PRE.-INSTALLATION).

Am I completely screwed, in that the plug for the puck, won't be present and that there will be no way to add Bluetooth?

Am I also correct in understanding that regardless of the car having Bluetooth or not, there is no way to get Bluetooth streaming functionality?

Thank you in advance

You'll be able to add Bluetooth telephony with the purchase of a puck. The port will be in the center console. EBay has them but I'm not sure specifically which one you'll need.

As far as streaming BT audio, you're kinda screwed, unless the car got the optional IPod integration kit. Then you'll have an old style 30 pin male cable in the glovebox, and you can attach a Tune2Air Bluetooth adapter to it and get streaming audio. The kit was a dealer added option for 07-09 and became standard in 2010 MY 221s.

Last resort, MidCity Engineering apparently can do a retrofit Aux In adapter. If you own a big audio file library, best bet is to burn six DVDs worth of MP3s and load up the changer.

So just to be clear, despite the fact that 386 or 388 are not there, I should still be ok to simply add a puck?

I've never seen a 221 without at minimum the port but I guess it's possible. You'll know when you get the car I guess. Worse case with the prewiring in place you should be able to find the part on EBay.

I have an extra never used puck that I will sell to you if the car doesn't have one. Send me a PM after you get the car and let me know if you want it.

One last question. Will the puck work with the iPhone 7?

Yes. And even though your car didn't have anything but the prewire when built, odds are in the past decade somebody upgraded it.
