Update for existing nav on 2011

I recently went by the dealer to see about updating the nav map in my 2011 s550. I had in mind an inexpensive, easy to do thing like "buy the disc and install". The service guy quoted about $50 for the disc and $200+ for a license and it has to be ordered.

Does this sound correct? I thought, after the fact, that maybe he figured I wanted to add the nav feature to car that didn't have it.

I would try different dealerships - especially one that you have a relationship with already. I paid about $49 for the discs last year, and the parts guy directed me to service desk to get the code. After giving him my VIN, the SA told me to come back in an hour. After returning he handed me the code and waived me off without charging me. Not wanting to get in trouble I asked if there was a charge, and he said something quiet like "don't have time to write up the order so there's no charge". The code comes from VeDoc directly, and I don't think MB charges dealerships to generate it.
