ESP ABS and other multiple messages
Hello, all,
I've got ESP and ABS inoperative. Searched on the forum, that I have to drive slowly, until it disappears. That works for half a minute, and when I start to drive faster it appears again. What is interesting, is that, when I slow down, when parking sensors should engage, it also pops up inoperative. Same with Hold, distronic, nightvision.
Could all that be related with speed sensor?
How can I check them without star?
Thanks in advance.

any auto shop will have a battery load tester. it is usually not something that can be tested with home tools unless you really know what you are doing...
if your battery checks out you need to connect your car to star/ das and interrogate the abs/ esp module and speed sensors. sensors do go bad on occasion.

Mine did all that as a result of a bad wheel speed sensor. It can make sense to me: all the things that aren't working, to some degree, likely require wheel speed input. The car being uncertain of that input, just shuts down anything that needs it - ABS, ESP, parking sensors (need to know how fast your going), Distronic (also probably wants a speed input), etc.,
I had both replaced for about $585, at the dealership.

Ok, than I don't need to go to workshop to replace them.
I have a quote of 100Eur for the sensor, just need to find out which one, because front and rear are different.
Does anyone know how to find bad sensor without STAR?

Try to clean them out with electronic cleaner first and it will save you some $
On the W220 platform, the common failure part is the right rear sensor. W220 gas cap is also on the right rear. Overfilled gas drains right into the wheel well that is where gunk buildup and throw speed sensor issue.

You are not solving this without star/ das. Sorry. Please step up to the brand and stop being a cheap shot.

Update. Got time for the car yesterday. Checked all sensors with multimeter. Driver side front showed rolling numbers, and was dirty. Cleaned it. Showed same readings as the others. Drove to the city 30km all messages were still on. When restarted car in the city to come back home, messages cleared, and got back home without any faults. Might last one day, might last 10 years.
