What's the normal behavior of the mute button ?

What's the normal behavior of the mute button on the steering wheel?

If the music is playing and I press the Mute button, the music fade into silence.
However, if I press it again silence doesn't fade back in to Music.
It just goes from complete silence to the normal level of music. No fading into
the music nicely. Is this normal?

Does your mute button behave like the one I have?
