W221 OM272 camshaft error codes at 187 000 kms

Hi all,

Sorry in advance, if I fudged up searching, but I couldn't find an answer for this specific issue.

So I have a 2006 S350 with 187 000 kilometers on it and it's started to show the dreaded camshaft error codes (specifically P0015 and P0016). I bought the car with 165 000 kms on it and I have absolutely no idea whether the balance shaft was ever fixed or not. I can see dismissed error codes P1200 and P1208, but since I'm currently just using the Torque Android app, I have no idea when they were cleared.

It drives absolutely fine.

My current plan of action is to just replace all the camshaft magnets (I already replaced the CPS earlier) and see whether the issue comes back. However, it would be nice to know if there's anything more I could do on my own to diagnose the issue.

Are there any smartphone apps, which would also show me when a code was cleared? Is this data even stored anywhere?

Could an original OM272 faulty balance shaft have even survived for 187 000 kms?

I have an MB Star C4 on the way (yeah from China, surprise, surprise) will it give me any extra insight on the issue?

Thanks a lot.
