New tires needed! Continental DWS 06 or Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 plus?

When I first bought my S550, it had the factory Continentals. They were OK, but would vibrate between 60-75 mph on certain highway roads in my area. I tried re-balancing them at multiple shops with no success, including replacing one wheel which I was advised was out of round.
I replaced the Continentals with a new set of Yokahama Advan S.4.s. Great tires, but I would still feel a slight vibration on the same highway roads mentioned earlier.
A few months ago, I replaced the Yokohama's with the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+. The vibrations are now completely gone. I didn't change anything else and that includes the installer of the tires. Also, I always had the vehicle aligned at the dealer after tire installation.

In the past when I spoke to a Michelin rep he explained how other manufacturers use multiple pieces when the tires are glued together and they don't use as many pieces. Maybe this is part of the reason - or that that Michelin has more money for R&D than most others out there.

As I mentioned previously, I have not tried the Michelin. But I'm now quite curious to compare.

Continental vs Michelin tires discussed on this thread
I had two sets of Michelin Sport on my 2007 S550 Base car. I bought it Certified car with Michelins about 50% thread. Within about 12000 miles the inner and outer threads on all wheels was worn. I tried increased tire pressure up to 42 but did not help. Replaced it with same tire, Michelin Sport. Tire pressure was at 42 psi. Lasted only about 15000 miles. same issue. Car was aligned 3 times right after the new tires were installed, altho in my opinion not alignment issue as wear pattern is the same on all tires.
I decided to look into the tire load rating. To me it appears too close to the vehicle loads. I decided to use Continental DWS 06 which has an extended load range. The ride got much better and after about 15000 miles still looking good at about +50% life left. Even tire wear at 32-34 psi I set it. QUIETER and SMOOTHER ride.
The issue in my opinion is when turning, the Michelins side wall deflects too far thus causing it to wear sooner at the thread edges.
This is my experience on my S550.
By the way, my 1995 S420 is also riding on Continentals. No uneven tire wear and also good wear life.

Hey Jason, congrats on the wheel upgrade they look great! I've had the Michelin's loved them but they are a bit harsh over road imperfections and also more likely to get a bubble from a hit of a pothole so be sure NOT to over inflate. The handling and quietness of them are second to none but I just got tired of replacing them lol.

Nah just saying that these tires ride a bit harsh when it comes to potholes so just stay on the safe side and maintain the recommended tire pressure or keep between 36-38psi and you should be just fine.
FYI i only drive in sport suspension mode.
