600 is a cool car def enjoy it. Im sure the interior is amazing. But the stuff that breaks on them is retarded and most people know this and wont touch it. Dave is in a unique situation where Im sure he bought the car cheap and was able to put an aftermkt warty. Its a must on any ofthese cars. Dave whats your total so far? exceeded what you pay for the car yet?
and btw the s550 was a relatively realiable car( not the 07-09's) But the facelift had very few dealer returns, Mine was great and maint wise over my 3 year warty I upgraded the rims/tires,added dustless pads, a battery and maybe another 1k from dealer for small crap not covered under my cpo warty. My warty was coming up in 3 mos,That was my time to bounce.
All W221 S600's and S65's have ABC. The S600 is essentially an S65 with a slightly smaller motor, smaller brakes, and softer tuned ABC. Everything else is the same except for the stock wheels and body kit. The W221 S63 is more closely related to the S550 than the S65.

IIRC, I paid $38,500 plus tax, shipping and warranty in 11-14 with 24k miles. A one owner S. Cal car driven by a guy in his 70's. So far, my warranty has shelled out $16k with another $8k being added to the tab when I pick up my car next week. I still have almost 4 years left on my warranty.

That warty is amazing! That was such a great find. You would have been out of that car long ago without a warty.

I would never have purchased it without warranty coverage. And the beauty is that the policy is transferable. So I can sell it in a couple of years and still have 2 years of full warranty coverage to offer, which adds significantly to the value of a private party transaction. Nobody else will be able to sell a 13 year old car with warranty coverage.

Isn't there a monetary cap to how much they will pay out? Can imagine they shell out $50,000 in repairs if the book value is $30K. How much was the warranty?

The cap is the NADA retail value of the car on any one repair claim. There is no cap on the total amount over the term policy.

Depends on the weather
That's how the warranty was that I had on mine that the previous owner transferred to me. I believe she paid 5k for the warranty. I only used it once for coil packs but outside of that, never had any issues. Even with out, I'd still take an S600 any day. I buy my cars outright so if anything happens and I plan on keeping the car, it's more feasible to put out 1k-5k for a repair when the car is owned vs some people who are paying easily 1k+ a month for a car so I would see why they wouldn't want to put out 1k-5k for 1 repair.

Awful wheels....

Personally, I would never consider getting a used/out of warranty V12 German car....but that's just me.

I would if I knew how to fix it.
