08 s550 Air suspension compressor replacement

okay so today I took my 08 s550 base into a indy shop to get diagnosed for some warning lights that were coming on. 1) red battery , 2) yellow outline of car with arrow going up. the indy shop put it on the star system and basically said alternator is working intermittently I asked if it could be regulator but he said since I just hit 100 miles I need a new alternator for which he quoted 830 so im thinking I will let him do that fix. but my question is about the air sus. compressor he quoted 780 for parts and labor but it look like from online its not that hard of labor at all does any one have experience with replacing these and any advice would be greatly appreciated . also should I have him try fixing the regulator instead of the whole alternator ? or go with his advice of replacing whole system because of mileage ?

Current compressor part # is 2213201704 (remanufactured 221320170480) see attachment for replacement, OEM alternator 0131540502 (013154050287). IMHO replace alternator.

My vehicle had the following work done by the previous owner for which I have receipts.
The work was done in Sacramento, CA by an Indy.

AIRMATIC COMPRESSOR, replaced on 7/9/18:
Parts, including compressor, relay, fuse and suspension filter: $501.50
Labor: $187.50
Tax: $36.36
TOTAL: $ 725.36

CAMSHAFT ADJUSTOR SOLENOIDS/MAGNETS, replaced in 10/25/17:
Qty. 3 Magnets and 1 Pad Sensor: $97.00
Labor: $437.50
Tax: $7.03
TOTAL: $541.53

ALTERNATOR was replaced on 4/30/18, parts cost was $640.16
Labor: $287.50

Appears to me that the prices you were quoted seem ok.

Hope this helps.

I currently have 144,800 miles on the clock.
The work was performed by the previous owner between 130K and 138K. I purchased the car based on the service history and all recent work which was done.
The car runs like a champ now and all works as it should, after I went through the car and fixed some minor cosmetical issues, gave it some TLC as well as my personal touch.

As I intend on keeping this car for a long time, I will keep all maintenance up to date and will take care of all issues that may arise. Thanks to this forum, I was already able to address a few issues (i.e. evaporator filter cleaning, as the car could not be filled up without the nozzle constantly shutting off, anti squeak and grease on the brakes to take care of my squeaking issue) with minimal cost and some elbow grease.

Hope all your fixes will be taken care of as well, so you can fall in love with this car all over again.

IMHO, the W221 is one AWESOME looking design, maybe even the best so far.

Great, I like hearing that, as the W221 is a great car and for sure does turn heads.

Scroll down on the main thread page here on the W221 forum and you will see my thread, "2007 S550 squeaking brakes". Should tell you everything you need to know.
If you need further assistance, feel free to PM me, always glad to help.
