Wrong mileage w221

Hi all,
I just purchased a w221 S350cdi 2009 with 170.000 km in dashboard. Yesterday, after a simple check with my diagnostic tool I found a hand brake error.
No problem with this, but in additional info is written: "Main odometer reading: first occurrence 397312 km"
Does anybody knows what that means?
Can the main dealer read if the odometers were rolled back?
Thank you!

"First Occurrence" means first time the fault happened.. "Last Occurrence" means the last time the fault happened.

Your car might have been rolled back. The first occurrence of the problem shows the odometer reading of 397,312 km, that doesn’t show the actual original number of kilometers the odometer has today which is even higher if indeed it has been rolled back.

You should check the original kilometers with the dealer.

Several control modules log mileage when a fault occurs, and if the odometer has been tampered with, the crooks are unaware of the other locations and if the did how to clear them. Check the values in the BCM, check for faults in the CGW, and the RDK (Low Tire Pressure Monitor). You already know about the EPB.

There are ways to block the correct mileage being reported altogether. That being said, definitely check the mileage in all modules where it's available.

That's like 250,000 miles. Not bad if it's correct.

If they didn’t even clear the shadow memory of the Electronic Parking Brake, the probably are not the brightest crayon in the box when it come to being crook.

Haha yeah no doubt. I was just putting that out there....that in some cases there is no way to get the actual mileage anymore...unless you look for the hardware they installed and remove it.

That is true, but I would have to say it is at least somewhat possible compared to the mechanical odometers. Depending on your level of determination, pulling a VMI, CarFax and other history reports, checking all control units and even looking for taps or splices on the CAN wiring and soldering work on the EZS and IC would likely give some indication of tampering, although that is still not definitive.
