Staggered wheels and 4Matic
I posted this on the 216 forum, but my car's platform's the same as the 221. I have a 2012 CL550 4Matic. I've read and been told yes and no, as to whether staggered wheels are okay. No, due to transaxle issues.
If staggered not an issue, will 19" 8.5's, w/245/45's front and 19" 9.5's, w/275/40's rear work? These are MB factory A2224011402 take off's from a 2016 S550. Have same 43mm offset as the factory 19/8.5 currently on my car. I've been told it's all about staying w/in a total diameter spec. Need to move quickly. Please help, if you have a solid answer to staggered and the tire dimensions listed workable. Thank you. |
My understanding is that it's not recommended to use a staggered set of wheels on a 4matic.

My previous S Class came from the factory with staggered wheel set up. My current E 400 has staggered wheels form factory. Both cars are 4 matic. It is the rolling radius of the tires that is critical to the set up. They need to be the same although the tires are different sizes. Never experienced any problems but always stuck to factory specs when changing tires.

yes you can stagger them, no the 222 wheels are not correct. You can run a 255 fr w a 275 rr and be fine. Wheels must be within 3% of ea other.
